Projector Headlights from eBay?

Hi, has anyone bought and installed projector headlights that are sold on eBay for $220-230? They look like a nice upgrade for standard non-HID headlight so was wondering if it was worth spending the $$$. How do they perform vs. stock in lightining department, installation problems, what bulb type do they use (are they H3), quality, etc? I have Sylvania SilverStars on at the moment... Thanks...

I like the smiles, thanks. I tried the search and I got some 20-30 threads of which none gave any reviews, just honorary mentions, hence my post ;-)

Before buying projectors, donate some money to the org so you can use the search function. It will help you on the long run (as long as you keep your max). That way, you won't have honorary mentions.

PS- Those projectors uses H3 bulbs

yea the bulbs are H3 dude and you should deff get new ones if you plan on getting the projectors, because at night the projectors are no better than 4 little flash light dots on the road

I wouldn't go that far. I drove home the other night in the woods with no street lights and I could still see alright.

Projectors Suck

The lights I got were a piece of ****. I sent them back for a store credit. I had to silverstars in the H3 also but the lighting was only little improved..... Nothing special!! But www.customenterprise.com has an HID kit that would definitely improve vision at night but if you want that you may as well get the 02-03 HIDS which requires additional wiring. Its what I did!!

Swap out the projectors in the cheap headlights on Ebay to some TSX projectors like these ....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT
... and HID light output will be like OEM. Its not a big project and the lights will not only look good- but light up the road like its meant to be . The projector needs to be HID specific or the light will be shined all over the place.

if you want, go on ebay and get some A6 ECE projector's and you'll have a nice colorful cutoff line. they are roughly 150 dollars for both.

how is the cutoff line for 2k2-2k3 headlights?

I like the head lights. The lighting is not better than stock head lights. Its Just in a wider pattern. But you could change or upgrade that later.

stock lighting is POS... the headlights themselves are great for doing a retro project like blackbird and OOmaxSE said... even upgrading to halogen projectors found in the celica or mdx will be a vast improvement.

get the hella e55 projectors, the ones found in the 6th gens. Those HID are sweet, that purple/blue color is like NO other.

but any xenon projector will be just fine, just like the audi a6 projectors or the acura tsx projectors mentioned.

for more info on HID/xenon projectors go to hidplanet.com

LOL omg it seems like this fuking question is asked every month, I swear this should be a sticky or something already..Look the ones from ebay are fine if you don't mind being blind half the time with light just hitting the road, as long as you live where there are street lights you'll be fine..If not then you're going to have to drive with your brights on..You wanna buy mine? I was planning on doing what Dr. Roy did, the leds for the halos came in the other day

I just bought and installed the Halo Projectors for my 01 MaxSE and they suck. First of all, they don't fit properly because the clip that holds the headlamp in it's housing is off by a 1/2 inch, so you have to remove the clip in order for it to fit properly. But if you remove the clips, the headlamp is not secured and can be removed easily and bounces around the housing. Secondly, the light output is horrible. Each lamp projects three beams of lights, might as well be flashlights. Brighter bulbs don't help either, I installed PIAA H3 Super Plasma 5000K, all it did was change the light from yellow to blue-ish white. Although they look good, and improve the look of the 00-01 Max., it's not worth it if you drive at night. Save your money and invest in HID's.
