Remote Start

i did a little searching on this subject but want to clearify.

I have a 2000 Maxima GLE with the transponder system (guess they all have it) I would like remote start and was wondering if its possible even with the factory security system. I was also wondering about how much the setup would cost.

One other thing is that has anybody ever started their car on accident. My stock remote has a range of 100+ feet and sometimes I wonder if I am sitting in class and accidently press the button (whatever one it is) if it would start. I really dont know much about remote start, I am not sure if you have to like hold 2 buttons or press 1 or whatever.

Get the DEI 556U Universal Remote Start Immobilizer Bypass Module
and DEI Valet 561T
Hook it up
Done.
Works on a 3 pulse system.....press lock button 3 times car starts.

you will have to also sacrifice one of your keys because it has to get put inside the bypass module. don't worry if the key is cut already because they file it down when they do the isntall.

When the car is started does it unlock the doors? Or do I push the lock button 3 times to start and then press the unlock button to acutally unlock the car. I really dont know much about these and like some information. Thank you guys, I am researching on my own at this time also.

you press the unlock button three times and it starts the car. your doors don't unlock and your hazards will bling once every 3-5 seconds (not sure exactly) to let you know that your car is started in case you can't hear it from where you are. what i don't know is what you do when you get in the car. do you have to turn the key in the ignition or just stick it in...

when you start the car it should stay locked until you unlock it yourself with the remote.

when you start your car, the car is locked until you unlock it with the remote, then you get in the car put your key in the ignition and turn the key twice then step on the brake which will deactivate the auto starter and let you drive off.

Mine end up by 2 remote on my key chain, because it won't work together with the factory alarm. The remote starter that i bought is simply keyless only. Unless i am happy with keyless only, than i can bring the remote starter only. But i do afraid to lock my car without alarm. So, 2 remote on the key chain is necessary.
Mine is DEI Valet.

Go to BULLDOG.COM. I just put a Bulldog system in my son's Neon and even though it's alot easier in the Neon, I was able to get all the information necessary to install the same remote system in my Max. Their web site is great. They have every bit of information you need for all makes and models right on their site. They also have toll free tech support that actually answers the phone. Keep in mind that if you are going to do it yourself it isn't easy. But if you take your time and do set aside a couple of hours it shouldn't be to bad. BUT, if you have no wiring expenience, DON'T DO IT YOULSELF. Kits range from a low of about 35.00 to over 200.00 depending what "extras" you want. Pro. installation from someware like Best Buy or Circuit City is about 100.00 to 150.00. You will also need to add a bypass module for about 20.00 to 30.00. That is because we have transponder keys that need to be bypassed for the starter to "think" a key is in the ignition. Unless you have a third key you don't need, that will add another 75.00 or so to the overall cost. If you look on ebay, you will be able to compare many, many models and options. Good luck.

To clear this up, order of operation is this.
Press Lock button 3 times = Remote start
Press Unlock once = Unlock Driver's Door
Press Unlock a second time = Unlock all doors
Get in, put key into ignition, turn to On position, depress Brake pedal = Deactivates Remote Start
Drive.

This DEI Remote Start system suppose to be setup like all the remote start modules they make. Operation should not change. I believe it even has the Parking Light Turn-On Feature to confirm car is started. I've installed numerous Remote Starts in various cars, including bypassing a 6-speed manual transmission (not recommended for remote start newbies). I'm performing this soon, and will let you know my findings.

Good Luck

sorry to be off topic but how did you do that?! i've wanted to do that so badly. to be able ot leave my windows open a crack while i'm at work so the car doesn't get too stuffy in the summer and then be able to close them without going outside if and when it starts raining.

125-150 is a good range, especially if you provide the modules. modules aren't expensive if you shop around.....buy from here, cheapest I've found.

Well the 300 is with me not providing any of the modules. I am thinking of ordering the modules from that website and then taking them to a local shop.
