all current headers include the y pipe. current makes for the 5th gens are from hotshot and cattman. if you have a link to the headers then i might be able to see which one it is. most likely, its a knockoff for that price and i have seen a few 4th gen try stone mountain headers which were poor quality and minimal gains over a y pipe. the 00/01 engine is the VQ30DE-K but most refer to it as the VQ30DE.
if you are seeing headers for the vq30de on ebay then they are probably the 4th headers.

it says in the description 95-99 which is the 4th gen VQ motor. this is also the brand which many 4th gens stay away from because of poor quality and much lower than expected gains.

Did you not read what sloppymax wrote in post #3?

The motors in the 00 & 01 are vq30de-K. Yes it is the same motor but with small diffrences.

since you are a 2k1, there is no egr fitting. those headers have the fitting so i guess you could plug them up but i am almost positive that you would run into more than 1 fitment issue.

Stone mountain racing headers are crap, from what I've heard. Just look at them, the runners are short and not equal length. Like Sloppymax said, hotshot and cattman are the only two sets of headers that have been proven to be worth a damn. I did recently hear of another company that is producing some nice looking headers for our max's for a cheaper price, although they haven't been dyno'd by anyone I know yet.

to what these guys said... I'd go with the headers that have already been proven to work by other Max owners... either Hotshot or Cattman....

hot shot and cattmen charge 600$ these are 300$ sounds like a real good price unless someone could fine me something close to that price?

Well, the point is, what good is it if its a good deal but they don't prove to give ya any gains at all? If ya really wanna take the risk and try em, go ahead... maybe you'll prove people wrong and get good gains from em (with dyno proof of course). Then everyone will follow suit and ditch HS and Cattman to get these headers too.... BUT, if they don't work, you're gonna be out $300.... so... its really up to you...

If it were up to me, I'd take the safer route....

The price isn't the issue, it's performance. Why spend $300 on something that won't give you any hp? I'd be willing to bet that these headers won't give anything more than 5-10 hp, at very best. With the others, you can expect at least 20-30hp, from what I've heard. Just look at these compaired with either the hotshots or the cattman headers, the difference is obvious. Like I said before, the runners are short and they are uneven, which is a no-no with aftermarket headers. With some things, you get what you pay for, headers are one of them.

Even though you have a VQ30DE, it's slightly different from the one in the 4th gen Maxima. On a similar note, even though the Altima 3.5, the 5.5th gen Max, and the 6th gen Max all have the VQ35DE, their headers aren't interchangeable. It might take you a while, but try to find used Hotshot or Cattman headers from here or NissanForums or somewhere.

stone racing has a bad rep because of thier turbo manifolds which were prone for cracking (esp on a sr20de-t). Also, thier downpipes were known for cracking and rusting especially in areas where it snows. But I did hear that stone racing was bought out and under new managment so their product quality has gone up.

I also asked on my other forums about equal length headers and the genereal consensus there was that it was myth and unless you were turbo or trying to squeeze out every last bit of HP you can, than equal length was the way to go. this is not my opinion since I do not have any experience with headers.

Also, I dont see why not these headers wouldnt fit on a 5th gen. The y-pipe is interchangeable (stillen's via ext. piece) so i would think the headers would be also the same dimension.

please tell me why Cattman headers fit 4th gens, 5th gens and 5.5 gens ? Let him buy the Ebay **** and install it just to find out it didn't gain him anyting. At the same time hes going to be b!tchn up a storm bout fitment issues- whoever installs them. 95-01 VQ30DE is EXACLY the same, only diff is some 00s and all 01s have no EGR, so you need to plug up the hole with a nut that you can buy for a 01 Maxima cali spec- rear manifold to cap off the EGR fitting. Differences between the 3.0Ls is in the intake manifold and manifold ONLY.
