I shaved the emblems off my 4th gen and I used brake cleaner to get the residue off. But it takes a while... (took me and hour and a half) Use a cloth that dosen't leave behind fuzz and just keep rubbing. It eventually comes off.

I used one of those scratch remover cream that you see on TV. I think it is called "G34" or something like that. It worked for me but don't use it on big spots because it might leave a mark. I used it on the glue residue that was on my trunk lid and it came off. But just make sure you don't rub too hard.

Goo Gone worked for me. Not sure why is doesn't for you. Some guys use WD-40 also.

Doesn't brake cleaner strip paint???? I thought there were huge warnings on the can not to have it come in contact with painted surfaces.

I used Goof Off, but it should be the same as Goo Gone... like Tom said, not sure why it doesn't work....

Whatever you use, make sure you wash the area afterward. Some of these adhesive removers can harm your paint if you leave them on too long.

WD-40 works great and will not harm your finish...

What he said. Plus it just takes some time. Also be sure to wash & wax the area after.

I would think that's weaker than Goo Gone/Goof off, no? But I could be wrong...

Oh, you know what worked for me when I tried to get all this tree sap off my car was engine starting fluid, which is mainly ether. That stuff works wonders. I want to shave now! Is all you need is a blow dryer and some floss and of course some of the aformentioned fluids?

If this helps at all, I've used rubbing alcohol to remove pine sap before....

It also just occurred to me that if none of these help, ya might wanna try posting this in the Detailing forum, those guys over there know their stuff.... then again, I feel like if none of these suggested items work, there might be more to it....

You can buy what is called an EREASER WHEEL at any of the automotive paint supply stores. Its a rubber wheel that goes on your high speed power drill, and works just like a pencil eraser. I took door moldings off my 10 year old Sentra with 2 of these wheels, it would take me hours and hours to take the glue off by hand, but these wheels make the job 10x faster and eassier. They do not harm the paint eighter, almost all body shops use these.

I used an eraser wheel to remove the black material from the edges of my 2001 Sentra's doors (the rear edge of the front doors and the front edge of the back doors have this black strip with body-color paint underneath), and it did no damage to the paint. I've never tried it for removing adhesive, but I suppose that would be worth a try.

its easier to use wd40 and goo gone with new cars i.e. 6th..5.5gen but with 5th gen takes a lil more work because its obviously been stuck to the car for 4 or 5 years instead of 2 or 3

WD-40 didn't do much for me, even though i let it sit for a long time.
I kept the blow dryer on the glue until it became gooey enough to scrape of with my finger in a t-shirt. Probably not the best way to do it, but I was getting frustrated, it was freezing, and there doesn't appear to be any damage.

I've used nail polish remover to get rid of glue left after removing pin stripes. I've also used bug and tar remover to help a friend de-badge his car. I don't see why either wouldn't work.

3M makes an emblem and adhesive remover. it's in a red and white can. works beautifully, makes things easy. just remember to rinse the area and put a coat of wax over it when your done.
