All SE Owners and Aftermarket Struts
All SE Owners and Aftermarket Struts
I got my new Tokico HP Blues sitting at home. I don't plan on putting on new springs, but keeping the stock SE springs and installing the new struts.
If you did a similar thing thing as me, how did you like the car after the struts installation? Was the ride quality better or worse? Was the handling better or worse? What was your objective to replacing your struts (more handling, better ride quality, blown struts)?
Any kind of feedback/comments are greatly appreciated in advance. Thank you all.

Put on HP/Progress about 4000 miles ago... I LOVE IT...
Ride quality is definitely less cushy, but has a "sportier" feel to it, ie. its harsher than stock although not uncomfortable (I'd give it 7.5/10 with stock being 10); its actually pretty nice still...
Handling has improved by a ton, so has stability at high speeds...
Yeah, I know... I didn't use the stock springs like you're planning too... but just thought I'd share anyhow...
the HPs are slightly stiffer than stock, so you'll probably see some improvement in handling and it'll feel more solid... but still a nice ride cuz of the OEM springs...

Instability at high speeds, your alignment might be off. Mine is off right now, and when I'm driving at 70mph or so, it's not stable. Also can be from strong winter wind gusts, and if your struts are worn, you'll feel the car shift from teh wind.
rlx77: you and i were in the same boat. looking for cushy ride. i ended up with illuminas and gle springs. see thread here

illuminas at the 2 setting are supposed to be similar to the blues. currently i have em set at 2 in the front and 1 in the rear. DEFINITELY better than before with se springs and blown/worn struts. but nothing close to the ride of my acura. i'm happy tho knowing there wasn't much more i could do. i take that back. i suppose i could remove the fstb and rsb, but that's not in consideration right now cuz i need them to handle the extra roll from the softer suspension. it's a balance i guess.
btw, the gle springs were only $25 from an orger

why did you replace your SE spring for GLE? Aren't GLE spring a bit softer? Or did you want a softer ride. When I need to change struts, I think I'm going to use the stock SE springs with Illuminas. I don't want to lower my car.
