Stop being so be

0-60 = Crap data,IMO
1/4 = high 14's stock

Common problems, MAF + auto tranny valve body. Rememdy, replace with upgraded VB, and cheaper MAF sensor from Dave Burnette, check the stickys and the TSB's.

21-24 MPG.

According to edmunds.com, 0-60 is 6.3, doesn't specify auto or stick.

I don't do so hot with the mileage. I only get about 19. Of course, that's mostly city-type driving.

Either way, it's a fast car, but the gas mileage definitely suffers. And these days, that has become a very significant issue.

Gas milage hummm let me see....
Right now in FL "Orlando" = $2.30, I just heard on the radio " From CNN news" that it might get to $4bucks... I'm thinking of getting rid of my car cause of this... so let me say it again , if you can afford a $4.00 per gallon price Welcome back to the Org. if not keep the Sentra.....

ya edmunds is 6.3, im guessing that's stick, i guess this because i have looked at their other times and they are usually slow on the 60 times...alot of other cars manual times i've seen are .1-.3 slower then other sources...but yes as stated, the maxima will be fast either way, i have an auto, and i wish i had a 6 spd, the power would always be there with a 6, and also better gas mileage with a manual, so both is a plus...speed and economy...

oh and you can't forget about the BOSE problem in 02-03's...the problem is that after a while the BOSE HU will cut out the left side of audio but for CD's only...this happened to me and now i can't listen to CD's, only if i want to hear only the right side play...damn

Take your car in dusterman for the TSB on the bose and get it fixed, 0-60 is a useless measurement I think, 1/4 mile is better. The 6spd gas mileage over the auto is not going to be the decision maker when it comes to the purchase, it's why have 4 foward gears when you can have 6?

on the 0-60... take it to a track... as for the Bose... you can get it replaced, but from what I know, it doesn't help. The new unit will go out again, unless things have changed now from a year ago. If I had the cash, I'd just trash the Bose and go aftermarket....

Yeah, I've gone through 2 and it still has the same problems as before... I know other guys who have gone through 6-7 HUs already... no difference...

Wow, 6-7 that is definately not good. It happened once on a 4 hour drive, about 1/2 way in, but I've made that drive several times since then and it hasn't re-ocurred ... But I guess it's only a matter of time.

Lucky you... mine does everything people here complain about... skips when its cold, left side cuts out (comes back when I hit bumps in the road though), etc, etc...

I have the stock BOSE on my 2k2 6spd....it's not the regular double DIN Bose that comes stock...this is what most people have....its the special single DIN BOSE head unit....this head unit is only offered with NAVI equipped maximas.....I've never had any issues with this bose and I blast it to like 29 out of 31 (sound meter level) almost everyday....no issues with the speakers, cd player, radio crapping out on me....

btw any owners have issues with the NAVI single DIN bose head unit? becuz so far I have no problems @ 38k

Sotkc, On the highway yes. About the same from 0-75ish. The 3.5L is way more fun though.

Had the bose problems too, replaced for free, assured me that this is a new batch since Dec 03 and have not had a problem since. Maybe that will help some of you guys.

Question #1 - Why would you trade a Max for a Sentra?

Question #2 - Its a 2005 Sentra that Im assuming you bought new? Good Lord, do you know how much of a hit youre going to take if you get rid of that now and buy a used Maxima? There going to eat you alive!

With our WONDERFUL gas milage and my whole occupation thing coupled with the fact that I need to take out a loan to fill up anymore, I'm seriously beginning to think about switching to a Honda Accord Hybrid. 255 hp under that hood, too.

My gas mileage is great. Yeah they may be close in hp but not in torque. I garuantee that you have the same mileage problems in the accord. That is unless your precats are trashed... then its a good idea to get headers! Way better gas mileage and a good boost in power.

You made a grievous error in getting rid of the 99 Maxima. Was it fubar? As the above post stated, you will get crucified getting rid of the Sentra. Didn't you test drive it and do research on it? What possessed you to buy the Sentra in the 1st place?

I think you will be just digging a hole you can't get out of if you buy the 02/03 Maxima.

Of course, he will have the advantage over 99% of us here if theres ever a thread that says, "Prize to whoever pays the most a month on their 02-03 Max!!"

At least you will own yours sooner rather than later. The author of this thread runs the risk of being car poor for quite some time. Then the fact pattern will set in: I have to get rid of the 02/03 before its paid for because I just have to have a 6th Gen, Infiniti G35, Hummer (lol) or whatever.

Perhaps the best advice I could give is suck it up and drive the Sentra until its paid off. You've made your bed and perhaps you should sleep in it awhile.

I hate to sound cynical but its like throwing good money after bad and I sympathize with the guy he's only 19 and too young to bury himself in debt up to his eyeballs, IMHO.

alright so the sentra isn't that bad, its just like said above the 99 max had 185,000miles and was ready to go. it needed ALOT of work. heck i wish i could have kept it but i knew i wasn't goin to start my new job til just last week. makin big $$$. the sentra was a last resort for me. cheaper to run. the max was costin me mad money a month to fix on top of the car loan. everytime i see a 4th gen it makes me sad but im intent and no i dont like/want a G35,hummeror 6th gen!!!!!!!

I didn't want to rain on your parade. Quite often when I am faced with a choice I go through and exercise. I take out a piece of paper and draw a line across the page and then a line down the middle of the line to make a T. On the left I head it "pros" and on the right I label it "cons" or "advantages" and disadvantages". I then list these to help put things in perspective and revisit it a day or so later if time is not of the essence and go through the exercise again. This sometimes helps to crystallize whether I "need" something or merely "want" it. Sometimes I end up taking a big breath, rumple up the paper and say f#ck it that was a a bad idea in the first place.
