people say that h&r springs make the back sit lower on a manual how does the stance look on a automatic. Also are there any good places in the philly area to get struts and springs installed.

Dropped definitely looks hot, but IMO id rather ide stock and retain my ride quality rather than have looks. I do aggre that maximas should have come with a lower stance but i think they should make some springs that still retain your ride quality(no roll though) and give you a good look......my $.02

I have a 2000 Infiniti I30t, dropped it with Eibach and Tockico HP for about 6 months now and the ride sucks. You feel everything in the road, and you better hope you dont hit a pot hole, and yes they do sag eventually.

I live on equal or worse roads then you and I plan to drop my car on H&Rs if you live in a place with bad roads you probably need to get springs that dont ride that hard and dont drop the car too much and you should be fine.

I love the look of the dropped cars, but I'd be afraid of gutting my car on a handful of overly agressive speed bumps I know of. I have one friend in particular, I'd not be able to visit him anymore...it's right before his parking garage.

I voted for the drop, but I don't think I'd ever do it unless I also had Jeep Wrangler Rubicon skid plates.

After my drop I did a little test to see how practical my car still was after the drop. I took it off road on a very broken dirt path. With some 6-8 in deep potholes and some nasty lookin tree roots goin across the path stickin out 3-4 in above the ground.. It was no problem

Not where I drive. I will challenge anyone with coilovers on their 5th gen to negotiate the turns around here with the same speed I can go around them. I already have to back off because the back end of my car starts getting loose. WIth coilovers I'de be skipping over the roads rather than driving on them. I paid 550$ for my springs/shocks which is a deal in comparison to coilovers not to mention my suspension is as reliable as stock, which no coilover offers, and my car still rides like a luxury car.

In my situation
spring/shock > coilovers

If I lived in southern florida or southern California I would say coilovers > spring/shock but in any other situation no way

If you drop it just make sure your insurance does not find out as you may loose your coverage...

Those 32 people who voted for stock suspension should be dragged out of their cars and hanged on the gates to Tein Coproration.

well, that unusual combination of 4th and 5th gen suspension parts worked miracles for you , nice even drop, not too low in front, not too high in the rear... i hate your car for that...

I had issues gutting my car before the drop. The splash pan was always getting caught on things, like potholes. After the drop, The only problem is I live in a area with steep road slopes so its a much needed skill to learn not to bottom out the front bumper.

If either of you notices that you stay stiff for more than four hours, contact your mechanic immediately.

Dose any one have a stock rear spring in the Portland OR area that they dont want? I want to cut it down, paint it red and use it as a hood prop this show season.

I agree with everyone on how much better Max's look lowered. I have been driving B13 SE-R's w/ highly modded suspensions on the streets for the past 10yrs, so I love my stock suspension w/ my small modd list (FSTB, RSTB, RSB) and wont change springs on mine. Plus with a family on the way, i dont think they would enjoy higher spring rates.

i have owned eibach's, h&r, and i've ordered a set of progress from cattman.

eibach: beautiful drop, ride is HORRIBLE
h&r: great ride, but for the minimal drop, you might as well have stayed with stock.

i can't wait to test the progress.

progress is the way to go.I have had the cattman setup with progress and tokico 5 way for abotu a year and a half. i dont have any problems with being lowered as far as daily driving. I have driven the car across the florida a hole bunch of tiem and never had an issue with clearance or ride quality. most dont even think i am lowered while riding in the car. progress all the way man

would you go with full suspension? or just the springs for the drop? would the springs and stock shocks be good enough?

if you are goin to drop dont cheap out on it and make sure you get NONSTOCK REPLACEMENT struts. stock old sturts and lowered springs will make you very unhappy. plus if you do it at different times you will spend two times the moeny for install

I just bought progress springs for my '02.
I was torn between the H techs and these.... I've been on D2's on my 4th gen so i'm sure these will feel really nice compared to that.
Great thread!
