Compressing Rear Calipers.......Immediate Assistance Please

Hey guys, I'm working on this right now, quick responses would be greatly appreciated.

When compressing the rear calipers, i'm using a tool to turn the pison clockwise so that it will compress. I've made at least 75 turns and it doesn't look like it's compressing. Do I need to keep going or should I also use a C-Clamp to compress also?

Push in while you turn. If I remember correctly, you turn it clockwise. If they don't compress, you may have a bad calliper. I've seen it happen once to a friend's car.

O great....that wouldn't be good.

How much pressure should I use when pushing in?

just keep turning it and pushing, if you have a friend that could do one of them, it makes it easier....it took a long time for my friend and I to do the rears...

You push until it moves in.. just make sure you turn them enough. You can use medium effort with a channel lock...

Actually, the tool you have should fit over a 1/4" driver (socket wrench). Use that at medium pressure. It's easier to do yourself than to get help from a friend as there's not much room inside the wheel well. I typically prop it against the rear strut or other suspension component, push and turn at the same time, and am done in no time. If you don't push it while your turn, it'll just spin and not collaspe.

Man you guys are great, thanks. Once I tried it I got everything done in 30 mins. I figured it was like my Legend, but it's been so long I forgot about the pushing in part.

That's what it was doing, just spinning.

I used long nose needle plyers, and it worked perfect.

If you go to Pepboys, Autozone, or Advanced Auto (or any other chain for that matter), you can buy the tool for under $5. Well worth the investment.
