mdx halogen retro pix...

This is for the curious on the whole mdx retro into the ebay projectors. This is a temp thing before i go into the nissan ballast and osram bulbs. I might even upgrade to stanely projectors (s2000, TL, and TSX)
just got some snapshots real quick, don't know how to use a camera at night so i did my best...

and a distance shot with my yellow fogs and re-finsihed l.e.d.s.

For some reason, the pictures distort the light output. The intensity is suppose to be a lot whiter and even brighter especially for the distance shot of the yellow fogs. i dont know if its the AE balance or whatever... just borrowing my friends sony cybershot. If anyone can help, please.

Also, the cutoff has a lot more blue in it, about 2 inches thick if you look at it in person. My friend was in front of me and the flicker made him believe I had hids... and my yellow fogs are as bright as an is300.

edit:
I have a shot of the color output (when it flickers) but the foreground makes it look like crap output (which it isn't). Anyways, the color is white with flickers of blue. I am using an H9 ebay bulb which has poor quality but I think if I go with a stock halogen h9, I will lose color but the output would be greater.

I get TSX projectors every week or 2 and put them on Ebay to sell. The next set I have coming up for sale is going to be with the igniter, ballast, and bulbs to convert into HID. TSX projectors are HID projectors, they usually go for around 200-250 dollars for a set without the igniter, ballast and bulb.

Did you use some kinda LED bulb in the parking light ? I was gonna order up some PIAA 168 bulbs that are supposed to be 4700K LEDs, just wasn't sure how its going to look so I stuck to Raybirg.

MDXs do not come with HIDs, hes got normal filament bulb like a H4 inside the projector, as long as the wattage is similar to OEM stock wattage bulb, there should be no issue with it.

i put some 194 leds... they are okay. They look more like light purple even though it says its white. The color is very close to the 26,000mcd leds i bought.

If you get some Acura TL projectors + ballast + igniters + bulbs let me know, I am saving up to get those to retrofit my 99.

yes.

I also found out something very cool. I have stanely projectors! What this means to me is that they are made from the same company who makes the s2000, tsx, and TL projectors. Also, the lenses and a very similar reflector housing (different becuase it can hold a d2s bulb) is found in the new rx330. I think I will stick to these since I am getting more color than my friends TSX with HIDS in his e36 m3.

nice work on the retro ChromeSE5, looks good planning on putting HIDs any time?
i originaly used MDX projectors b/c they are so cheap, but more and more people on the hidplanet forums are playing w/ these and it looks they are a pretty decent projector for HIDs, check out this thread comparin output from different projectors, the stanly projector in those photos is a MDX w/ d2S bulbs. Igot a set of e46 single xenon projectors i was gona put in, but i am not sure if its worth it

if the e46 single xenons are the same as the bi-xenons, then I wouldn't since i wasn't really impressed by the flicker and color. I have to admit though, the beam pattern was really wide and it could see a lot. It seems they had more output than the TSX's we put in afterwards.
