There was a thread about punching out pre-cats, makes the car drive a bit better. I don't know where they are. I looked through Nissan FSM, can't find anything in there. Is it in the stock Y-pipe or in the exhaust manifolds? I have 2000 Max, does it have it, or was this on 02-03 models only..

If you have a 2k w/fed spec emissions, then there are only precats in the stock y-pipe. For 2k w/cali spec emissions, then there are additional precats in the exhaust manifolds.

 

so by removing y-pipe from headers, I should have access to both of them, correct? and then use whatever method to take the mesh stuff out?

 

Its not punching out precats but punching out the stock cat, the only model that has precats on the headers is the 01 max, it has it on the first header,so my question is what do you want to do clear out your cats on the y-pipe or clear out the cat?????

 

I don't want to touch main cat. I want to get rid of ones before it - in the y-pipe and manifold..
