I kno wthis may sound retarded, but has anyone ever chopped a maxima. I mean have they ever made it into a 2door, or made it a convertible? Can someone with photoshop post a pic of this.

Thanks for the correction soonerfan I haven't really payed attention to how 2 door cars looked.

I think the Max is too big to make into a 2 door or convertable. It doesn't have that tiny sports car feel to it.

The main problem is.....the maxima's frame/body are NOT very stiff at all...in fact the subframe (unibody construction) is much like a wet noodle. Take away the roof, and you lose a HUGE proportion of the structural support....the frame would flext SO much that it would probably bend...then your doors, hood, trunk, etc...would start fitting poorly, handling would be atrocious....etc

you get the picture....

convertible cars need substantial structural reinforcemnt of the lower body, since they do not have the roof, which provides much of the structural rigidity in hardtop cars....

that, and it would look TERRIBLE!

i dont understand why people are saying that a photoshopped 2 door maxima is "shortened" its the same lenght with two doors.

 

yea the 6th gen i thynk looks good but the 5th ehh id stick with the 4door

 

that chopped 6th gen looks awsome, especially with the buck tooth taaken out of the front grill

 

i think a chop top maxima would be absolutely killer paired with some suicide rear doors. i would love to do the work, but dont have the heart to chop up a brand new (almost) vehicle. im still torn on whether or not i even want to change my paint- its just too dam nice the way it is.

 

I don't like it either. It was something I did while bored and it proved, to me, that the 5th gen should stay a 4-door.

 

I agree. The shortened 6th gen looks good. Nissan really should do something like this to compete with the other manufacturers. I know they’ve teased us with a bunch of coupe concepts in the past, but they really need to get serious about a coupe in their lineup other than the Z. If not the Max, then maybe Alti. Whatever they do, I hope they taper down the rear, like the G coupe. That is one sexy coupe (minus the taillights).

The shortened 5th gen looks as awkward as a 2nd/3rd gen Camry coupe. There’s a reason you don’t see many of them on the roads. Their owners are probably too embarrassed to drive them. But seriously, the long hood/short tail profile reminds me of the last gen Prelude.

 

I like how Honda converted the the last generation 4 door accord into a two door. I always thought that looked very slick compared to other companies doing that, i.e. neon, grand am, grand prix. Too bad the maxima doesnt have those lines.

if u guys wanted a 2 door max why not get a 350z or maybe even a skyline. the max is known for its 4 doors and performance , which it does kick alot of 2 dr cars asses. so u can kick some dudes butt in his mustang gt and still have more room for his girlfriend n her friends when they jump outta his car and into to yours fool!
