Gen 5 Maxima w/ bike racks
Thinking of getting a bicycle rack to haul one or two bikes around.
Which style/brand is best with our Maxes? Roof or bumper?
And does anyone have photos of their max loaded with bicycles?
Really curious how this looks and which is best.
Thanks guys!

I got something similar to this one, I had it on my 02 now on my 04....
****note**** I have two 20" bikes and have not tried anything bigger than that....
I bought it from ****s sporting goods store for about 40 bucks....the one I have carries 2 bikes not 3..

if you're going roof rack, go Thule.
I have used and sold them for many years, and Thule is much better quality than the other popular brands Yakima and Barrecrafters
My Thule rack is now on its 4th car....it takes 5 minutes to take off (though mine usually stays on) and after almost 10 years, no rust, no broken parts, etc...
more pics on my site in case you're interested...

So far I really like the Thule and Yakima roof mounts.
What $ do these go for. I live in a rural community and can't go look at these. Any good websites to shop from?
Thanks for the replies guys...I appreciate it.

General pricing for Yakima or Thule (they cost about the same):
Fit kit for the maxima (2): about $60 total
Feet: $100
Bars: $40-50 depending on length
Lock set: $20-70, depending on how many you get
Fairing (the plastic wind deflector): $40-50
this is the basic set:
accessories:
bike rail (fork mount, which I recommend): $80-120
bike rail (full stand up, which I don't recommend): $80-150
ski racks ($60-100)
I only suggest Thule over Yakima because I've SOLD hundreds of both...they are both nice, and work well, but I have seen few if any Thules ever come back with rust, broken parts, etc.....after 3-4 years the Yakima racks tend to start rusting badly, especially if you keep it on in the winter (for skiing, etc)....
not sure of good places online to get them...but i suggest first going to Thule/Yakima's sites and figuring out which pieces you want/fit your car.....then doo a google search to find the best prices on thost components.....
