stagnation during acceleration
stagnation during acceleration
Does anyone have this symptom. When accelerating from a stop, the vehicle feels like it's stagnates for a split second before accelerating. It doesn't cause the vehicle to slow, just lag, then accelerate. I've had this for sometime (sporadic) and it hasn't caused any major problems.
ICEWAKE, did you change to a K&N filter just before this happened? That's the only thing I changed at about the time this started to happen. BTW it was 20,000 miles and over a year ago.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance

I put the K&N shortly after I got the car so I do not really remember it before that. I thought the K&N helped but maybe it was just all in my head. Also, my 3rd gen max did this also. maybe it is just that i have a automatic with 110k on it.
actually i think i have heard that before......someone told me to push the gas pedal 2 times before i started the car. i think it is just a bunch of BS. but who knows it might work for someone else.
The 5.5th gen Maxima doesn't have a throttle cable that physically links your pedal to the throttle. It is a throttle-by-wire car that uses a sensor to determine the position of the accelerator, then the computer determines how much to open the throttle. In your case, it sounds like the MAF is fine, since you can accelerate normally and rev over 2500RPM with no problem.
Performing the following two procedures might help your car relearn the proper throttle behavior:
Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
Operation Procedure
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound, which should occur very soon after you turn the key to the OFF position. The sound will be quiet, so you may not hear it in a noisy environment. It should sound like a light mechanical noise from under the hood.
I hope this helps you.

it could be the throttle position, reset that like was posted. but it may also be the crank position sensor recall, or possibly a recall for hesitation on 6 speed cars
