How to open up headlights?? (Searched)
I have searched and been to housecors site and while he shows how to do most of the procedure I don't see how he actually opens up the headlights. Maybe I am tired or am overlooking it.........Any help would be appreciated. I just don't want to screw them up. TIA

Yeah, there's really not much else to say. That's why he doesn't go further into detail about it. You heat them for 15-20 minutes at around 200 degrees (F) to soften the glue. When it's soft, you will be able to use some flathead screwdrivers to pry the thing apart. Eventually, you'll get enough room to just pull with your fingers. They're really not that fragile, but be careful anyway. And don't forget to wrap the headlight in an old towel while in the oven. If you don't, the plastic will melt wherever it touches a metal surface inside the oven.

^^^Thanks for the replies. If he would of said "They just pull apart after being baked in the oven" I would of known. I wasn't about to tear apart these HID's without getting some sort of confirmation on how they come apart. Thanks again.

nice witeup scmaxima2k ,
ironmax- just an FYI about making up those clear lenses, you dont need buy/have a dremel to cut the lens, thats the hard way, the plastic on those home depot flood lights is super soft they can be cut w/ tin shears or a good pair of scisors

Dremel is the proper way, and gets the best fitment

Just trace the orange stock lens onto the lens of the Malibu bulb (but make sure you leave excess around the trace...you will need it), and use the Dremel with cutting wheel to cut the circle out. Start bigger than you think you'll need, then take away little by little. And remember that the edge of the circle doesn't have to turn out perfect, as it will be blocked by part of the housing anyway.

i made these up while retrofitting projector headlights for HIDs and had to cut the smaller lense up top as well. to cut those I used a pair of regular houshold scissors , they cut no problem. compared to the bulky shears, I was able to make more accurate cuts, important b/c there is only 1/16" lip on the shroud to hide the edge of the lense
