Question for those with LED mirror shells...

Ok, so I would like to purchase the LED mirror shells, but I am not a huge fan of the amber LEDs...I would like to change them to a hype-white.

So, for those who have them, can you tell me what the backing of the mirror shells look like? Is it impossible to get to the LEDs? Or would it just take a little ingenuity? I am willing to play gineau (sp.) pig here...

You'd get pulled over for White blinkers...you don't want a ticket, do you?

I'd be willing to deal with it...besides, I could simply hook the wires up so that they only turn on with the lights and don't blink. Knock on wood, but I passed 6 cop cars in the first 2 days of having clear sidemarkers, cops around me have bigger fish to fry.

I'm wondering the same as well, if someone has a pic of the back of the shell, that would be best. I remember seeing a pic floating around here somewhere a long time ago, did you try searching? Google search didn't get me to anything.

I have only seen one write-up and it was top-notch...not sure where it is now, but there is a picture of the backing on there...not too good, though.

anyways, i think that you should just stick with the amber: A.) because you're sure to get a ticket with hyperwhite blinkers, and B.) the lights are only on when your blinker is...it wouldn't look right if you had hyperwhite blinking lights as well as amber in the front.... that's just my .02 though...

Really? They only come on when they blink? Would it be possible to tap into the power wires for the the lights and keep them on with the lights?

you could wire them to your clearance lights, but IMO that would kind of defeat the purpose of rear-view mirror TURN SIGNALS....

i have them on my car and there is no way to get to the led's. everything is sealed. you would need to completely rip apart the mirror to do it and i doubt you could put it back together afterwards. IMO, if you don't want amber turn signal mirrors, don't buy them - just my .02

Personally speaking if you are planning to wire the blinkers to stay on with the lights then what is the purpose of getting them in the first place. You already have side markers in the front and rear bumpers and third one in the mirror is really not necessary. If you use it for purpose that it was intended which is blinking with the turn signals then that would make sense. The maximas don't come with side blinkers in the fenders or in the mirors like some other cars do right from the factory, so I would think that if you are gonna go through all that trouble to install them, then why not wire it up to blink and keep it amber. At least it would serve a purpose of warning other motorists who cannot see the front or rear blinkers that you are turning and this is especially usefull on the highway during lane changes.
