Wicked Acceleration

I recently put my Frankencar/Stillen K&N w/heatshield back on the car (about a week ago.) Last month I had all six plugs replaced with NGK iridium. All new suspension and tires last week (225/45/18). I had to run an errand that was roughly 25 miles away, and from the second that I started the car and drove it, this car felt so much faster than it did yesterday. I mean night and day difference, to the point of possibly saying the quickest it has been, EVER. The temperature today is roughly the same as it was yesterday, in fact the weather itself was basically the same, so that rules out temp/weather. Is it possible that the computer finally made the slight adjustments to the new mods? Air/fuel ratios in check, and maybe even gear ratios adjusted by the ECU? My car just wants to go, and it sounds like it is running great. I mean even the new springs/struts felt more progressive and less stiff. Maybe it's my lucky day, I'm not complaining, but the difference is too noticable ( and no I haven't been drinking) Any other ideas why this car feels seriously juiced up?

I usually go to the same place and use the highest octane possible. I think they have 93 octane. The funny thing is that I did fuel up today, but my car felt real mean even before I did that. It's like someone kicked the motor in the *****, and woke it up. It has been pulling with a lot less effort, with less throttle.

I totally hear you. I've got so much sh*t to do before my fiancee gets home from work. If I'm lucky I'll cruise later. I just can't get over how good the car feels all around. The funny thing is that I was having a horrible day today, so it struck me by surprise, usually when your in a bad mood, every little bump aggravates you etc. So when I started feeling some extra stank, my day soon began to brighten, and I got to make the most of a lame errand by lightening the mood with a couple of quick blasts on the on/off ramps. I was also all alone in the car, so I didn't have to hear "slow down" from my frightened soon to be wife. Good stuff.

I've even had the same exact set-up on the car before and it never felt like that. I wondering if my pre-cats were clogged or something like that, and maybe I blew the sh*t out. Baffled....

That's impossible.

Not sure about everything else though, seems weird, it's never happened to me just out of the blue, usually after major mods (headers) is th only time I really felt anything different.

What I meant was that the new tire size might be slightly different from stock, even though it is supposed to be the same diameter. That would definately affect the computer. I didn't mean that the computer would actually change the gear ratios. The car just really feels so much better. I realize that the midpipe set-up only shows marginal gains, but it seems like the car is brand new again, and then some. JUST REALLY STRANGE....(in a good way)

I know what you are saying, but I've had a Stillen cone filter with stock setup. I've had just the K&N panel filter. I've had a frankencar with a SW-1 (secret weapon r filter) and then just the factory airbox with K&N panel filter. And now the K&N Stillen cone with Frankencar mid-pipe. I was driving with the music so loud that I couldn't even hear the intake at first. When I noticed the better oomph, I ended up lowering the radio, just to listen to the car itself. I'm not trying to say that I've gotten better than average gains with an intake (I'm not one of those guys that think I got 45HP from an intake swap), what I'm trying to say is that it feels like something was somehow corrected. I've never experienced such noticeable gains from any other intake mod. All I've gotten in the past is more noise. The only other difference that I could think of is that I made a ghetto air shield out of a plastic toolbox that covers the intake. Maybe the change in intake temperature has somehow prevented the computer from retarding the timing? All I can say is that I have more low end again which I haven't ever had with any previous set-up, and everything seems so much smoother TODAY versus any other day with different mods, and the same mod.
