I will clean my Throttle Body today but first I have question: as I've read on the forum I shouldn't touch butterfly so I was going to clean only in front of it only, but on the bottle of Throttle Body Cleaner the instruction is:"1.With the engine off, remove air intake boot at throttle body; 2.Start engine and liberally spray into throttle body working butterfly back and forth; 3.Turn engine off. Reattach air intake boot and drive immediately."
Can I follow those instructions without any problems?
PS. I am a little green so I do not won't to remove the whole throttle body or do anything to complicated.

 

You shouldn't touch the plate on 2k2's and above b/c it's drive-by-wire, in your case, you still have the cable so you should be fine.

 

But can I follow the instructions from the bottle

 

Screw the bottle, just make your own instrctuions, surely those on the bottle weren't written to a maxima specific scenario ..just in general ..

 

Cleaned mine (2000) and it worked great, like he said we have the cable hookup.

 

Better safe then sorry. Why not take the intake off and clean it the right way. If you want to do it while the car is running then get someone to give the car gas to open up the butterfly and spray inside.
