abnormal SES light

To summarize, I got the SES light over a year ago, went to autozone found out its an O2 sensor and I replaced the sensor myself. Light comes back ON. I do some research and find out about the TSB where the ECU misreads an O2 sensor failure and needs to be reprog (for free if your under 80K).
So I am pretty sure its this TSB but I am over the 80K. I call up the dealer and of course its buck expensive to get this done now.

So my question is, my SES light has been on ever since this occured over a year ago, is there anything I can do get rid of it? I periodically get the SES checked at autozone just to make sure some other code hasnt occured. But if I take the bulb out then Ill never know if there is a "new" code. I know its not really the sensor cause I've replaced it and I get incredible gas mileage.

Peace

Just unplug it for at least an hour.... if it comes back with the same code leave it like that and get used to it. I did... right now it came off.. I think it fixed itself...hehehehe

well, if that's a reoccuring issue, better take it to someone who can identify the problem until it's too late. Or get the obdii scanner and do the test yourself. And don't try to get inspection done with the SES light on. I did, it failed ... I knew it'd fail, but was hoping for the miracle

i think there may be a few o2 sensors. one in the engine block, and one behind, or in the cat. check both, i have the same problem in my gf's camry, and have replaced the front sensor twice, with no effect on cel. i need to try the second o2 sensor, and see if it fixes the prob. if you go to do echeck, unplug the battery for a little bit before the check, so light goes off, then let them do the testing.

00-01 Maximas could be both FED or CALI spec and have either 3 or 4 O2 sensors. For FED spec, 2 of the O2 sensors are before the precat, and the 3rd sensor is after the main cat. All 02-03s are CALI spec, so they have 4 O2 sensors, 2 O2 sensors are before the precats and 2 more after each of the precats.

For more details on that:

PTP, we're assuming you did replace the correct O2 sensor here right?

When's too late, I've had CEL's and an SES in both my cars for over a year/20k miles, are they going to blow up, no.

This has no validity because he stated he took it in and already pulled the code.

Some states don't have emmission checks, and mines one of them, and even I know you wont pass if you have an SES/CEL, because that's essentially the reason why we have these lights, for emmisson purpses.
Mostly why I posted about the comment was because he comes on here with 3 posts and acts like he knows it all .. when clearly he doesn't, so take the middle finger of yours, use it to click on your mouse and read some stickys thoroughly.

Oh please, don't go crapping on other people just because you got flamed for starting a thread asking something you could easily have found on any internet search engine.... just let it go already.
