Noisy/Squeaky turns

yo sup sup everyone

so here it is. if youve ever lowered your max, you know about the terrible sound your car makes when you turn extremely in any direction. it sounds like a coathanger scraping against a chalkboard covered in dying chickens who accidently swallowed airhorns and pecked at your mother in law's face and then she started nagging about it.

anyways, its actually a simple problem; by the way heres a pic to demonstrate:

this is a picture of my front, driver's side wheel from underneath the center of the car. youll notice two objects i circled. the one on the left moves essentially when you turn the wheel from side to side (i call it a bump) and the object on the right stays solid with the chassis and never moves. in an ideal situation, when you turn the wheel (in this case, to the left; which means the bump would move right, into the groove), the bump ends up perfectly in the groove. This prevents you from being able to turn the wheels too far. also, stock, maximas come with a little tiny cheap plastic cap that will almost certainly break off (mine did). To further complicate the situation, when you lower (or raise) the max, the bump no longer hits the groove properly (my max is lowered; youll notice that the bump has scratched up the top of my groove). thats why you particularly notice the problem when you drop the car.

anyways, theres alot of easy solutions--either get another cap, put some hot glue the tip of the bump, or you could even just grease up the groove and bump all help out the situation.

if you are more interested in learning about my car, or my cd visit your local library, google, or the following websites:

yep, the bump-stop issue is known, but yours is a nice write-up explaining it and why precisely the noise takes place
