6 spd riderz here!!
any 6 spd'rs change out their shift ****? mine's falling apart, i'm thinking about shortening the height and switching the ****. i'm not really feelin the shifters from twm, i was wondering about any other options we have to switch. pics would be good! thanks
Do what I did and move the arm 1 inch lower from the stock location....then drill a hole and thread it.....and secure it with a bolt....the throw is SHORT....we are talkin about 50% less than stock....but the downside is, it does get notchier....
the thread is laying around somewhere...since your donating member just search for a thread called FREE STS...the person who created is Deckdout02 or something

it looked really good and it didn't seem TOO difficult to do...i don't really know what shift ***** are compatible with our 6-speeds so i'm not sure about that one.
I just changed my shift ****. I bought a universal fit from JC WHitney for about 30.00. It is made from brushed aluminum and leather. It looks very elegant. I had to modify it to get it to fit properly but it looks and works great now. I ended up grinding off the threads on the bottom of the shifter.

1. Plenty of shift ***** available here:
http://www.cardomain.com/shoptype/Shift+*****
But ya have to consider the reverse ring, so that reduces the selection by a quite a bit... there actually are some made by MOMO and Sparco for cars with the reverse ring.

I'll just stick with my Free "non-working" STS and save the 150 bucks or so on headers and everything needed to move up to 125 shot. Then it won't matter how long or short my throw is.

Actually, My mistake. I thought you were say that you cut off an inch, and drilled a hole in the stock shifter. (where the **** is) and thats what made your throw shorter.
sorry, i am at work, and i am doing a million things, sometimes i mis-read something.I know it works because i have a tmw sts, and judging by the pics taken, it looks almost exactly where my sts sits, so i know it works. sorry about my post.
