I got an SES light a couple of days ago. The car seems to drive fine. I've seen a few threads lately about members getting random SES lights that are NOT accompanied by any obvious problems with the vehicle. I used the first half of the ECU reset procedure to put my car into diagnostic mode and I pulled the code by watching the flashing SES light. My code is "P0455 - EVAP Control System Gross Leak." I forgot to tighten my gas cap after my last trip to the gas station. This has happened to me twice before (once in my Sentra and once in my Maxima). I could just drive it for a couple of weeks until the light goes away on its own, but since I know the problem isn't serious, I'm going to wipe the code tomorrow using the ECU reset procedure.

If you've received a random SES and your car still drives fine, check the code. If you can't figure out how to pull the code yourself, take it to Autozone and have them do it for you. It may turn out that your code is something as simple as mine.

i just left it alone for a few days, and after turning car on an off, and taking about 5 or 6 separate trips, it went away on its own.
