Hi,

I would like to remove the coil packs (one at a time) to see which one is defective, (I know that it might take some time before I find the bad one). Is there a procedure available for this (5th) generation of Max? My 4th generation max was a breeze, but I understand that this model (5th) is much more involved, especially the rear packs.

Thanks, but I thought that to remove the spark plugs the manifold has to come out. Does the manifold stay in place to remove the coil packs in the rear?

you do not need to remove the manifold to take out the coil packs or the sparkplugs in a 2000 maxima. this is one of those jobs that will take you 45 minutes the 1st time you do it, and 15 minutes the times after that.

only on 2k2 and up--you have to remove the coils. the only thing you need is a 10 mm socket and a ratchet with an extension. i use a pocket screw driver to release the connectors.
