Tokicos are on... and my observations.

First off, BIG SHOUT OUT to Wustylez for helping me with the install. Second, we took some pics of his car. It looks DAMN nice. I want the stillen body kit now.
Anyway on to the tokicos. They are very blue and pretty. That's irrelevant I know but an observation. I am thinking of naming them after the smurfs.
They were easier to compress by hand than the stock struts and they rebounded quicker too. Is that the way they are supposed to be?
Ride with eibachs was definately less harsh than with the stock struts and I made my tires squealy on a turn (whee!).
Overall I'm prety satisfied.

I think a stiffer suspension is NOT supposed to rebound faster. When I adjust the Koni's to a stiffer setting, you are restricting the flow of the oil, and that's why it takes longer to rebound (I think)

My suspicion is that non-adjustable aftermarket struts are matched to the specs of GXE/GLE sturts. I know this is true (having checked the specs in the FSM and getting the specs from KYB) for 3rd gen KYB struts. This would mean that he only real SE replacements/high performance struts for Maximas is Koni.

so are u saying that i would be better off riding around on my stock SE struts with eibachs than getting tokikos? now i dunno what to do... should i just put the eibachs with SE struts? will this give me a better suspension setup than with the tokikos? hmmmm... i dunno what to do now... how long do the stock struts last with the eibachs on? cause then i could just drive around like this and when they die by then there might be more 5th gen struts to choose from or i will just get konis? Shall i stay away from tokikos??? im so confused

I don't know, but I wouldn't run eibachs on the stock struts very long or even at all. Just get the tokicos or konis and save the hassle of having to open up your suspension twice.

well but if the tokikos are worse than the stock struts then whats the point? and if they gonna die quick too then why not just use my stock struts and then when they die i will buy konis or something that will be good for a SE maxima...

i dunno a few posts back someone mentioned that the tokikos blues are a good replacement for the stock struts from GLE/GXE but not for SE thats why im asking... if they are better than the SE struts then i will change them

ride quality meaning that it will feel less sporty and less extreme? but will u also lose on performance? basically which is the better setup for performance? but i think i will put the tokikos on cause i dunno how many people riding in the car will like it harsh except me... hehe especially im wondering what the girls think u kno...

I'd take Toks with Eibachs over stockers anyday.

Shock Dynamics
Having been a road racer for quite a while I can tell you the secret to a good maxima shock will be in the REBOUND damping. SE struts are a little better than GXE's in this respect, but they are both not enough. I you have ever crested an uphill off-camber turn in a max at speed, you will see what I mean. There is NO rebound damping, especially at the rear.(that's why the RSB feels so good, it adds a little control) This has always been the key to a good race shock. So the deal is, who's gonna make a good, external double adjustable srut? I'm waiting for the KYB AGX's.
