Ok, so i finally finished the LED project. I added them into the climate control, the shift light, and the vents above my HU. Here are the pics:

metal max is right. Credit for help goes to:

Metal Maxima
Irish

It wasn't very hard to do..just some patience.

I didn't really keep a time limit considering if i wanted to do it all at once, it easily could have been done in a day. I just did it in sections when i got around to it.

as for a write up...i just used Irish and Metal Maximas write ups from when they did it. Not sure exactly where to find them but they are here somewhere.

I didn't use bulbs, i used red LED's. A combo of 5mm and 3mm both around 5-6k mcd.

eclipse cd 5425.

i personally recommend the cd5435 if you have the extra $100 but to me a remote and aux input were 2 things i didn't need.

no the red color does not tire my eyes nor does it get annoying.

the reason i did it in red was because my cd player has red buttons. i felt as though have blue with red would through off everything, considering i also have done the LED door switches swap.

looks good...your photos are much clearer than mine. I originally had the blue setups, but they were kind of harsh on the eyes at night and a little ricey IMO. I switched over to red a while back and am always happy with them...red is not distracting at all (look at how VW, Audi, and Mazda use red lighting all over the dash and gauges).

I also did the window switches and key ring surround, plus an LED in my dash pocket under the HU (fun fun). Anyhow, looks good, happy you figured it out. Oh, and it looks so nice with the red eclipse HU (my alpine lights up red also)

I'll have to take some nicer pics of my setup...these SUCK!!

i bought the cd5425 for $199 and no it does not change colors. The cd5435 that i mentioned above was $299 and came with a remote, aux input ready, and had the color change ability. But $100 for these features was not worth it to me, especially when i can purchase them individually if i really needed to.

i'm telling you man this is deff DIY. i had never even done anything electrical before. I had to go buy a soldering gun and everything. They only thing was i ruined my master switch for the windows before i used Metal Maximas way of doing it and that came out perfectly. I didn't break a single other thing!
