Does anyone know if the Hawk HPS brakes come with the shim kit? If not should I even get a shim kit or try to use the old one?

 

Don't know but I sould reuse the factory shims. They are beter quality than any aftermarket shims you will get. Just clean them up real good and slap a little high temp lube on there. I the pads you get come with shims allready applied on them use them but if there loose in the box stick on style then use the oem shims.

 

no, they don't come with shims, except some "universal" ones that I didn't use....

 

I just ordered some no name shims for 8.00 in case i cant reuse mine. The stealership wanted 48.00 dollars and they dont have them in stock. Which tells me they dont replace them when the do a brake job.

 

The dealer brake pads come with new shims, Everytime they change the pads you get new dealer shims. If you asked the dealer for pads you would get the new shims also. Dealer shims are the best but the dealers suck ***.

If you have factory shims on your pads now then you will be able to reuse them. The factory shims are not glued or rivited on.
