Oil filter ?

Recently purchased 03 se and going to perform first oil change. Went to Nissan service dept for oil filter and they gave me the filter for VQ30. When I asked why, they responded with "it's the same diameter as the one for VQ35, but is larger in volume. We(nissan service) put the VQ30 filter on all VQ35's except for the Z b/c there isn't enough room in the Z for the bigger filter."

Question is, is the VQ30 filter safe to use on my engine?

Wrong section, but that filter will be fine. That's an incredible price on the K&N. The K&N, Mobil 1 and Amsoil filters are the best. The Mobil 1 and K&N are made by Champion Labs. I usually get the M1 filter.

just make sure they are using the 4th VQ filter. it is larger than the 5th gen 3.0 filter and has metal endcaps. the 5th gen filter has cardboard like cheap fram filters.

wrong, i FINALLY got confirmation from multiple stealers that the 9E000 is a 5th gen VQ30de-k part. the cardboard ones are the 5.5 gen

the 9E000 was originally a 4th 3.0 filter and thats great if that what your dealer is using. the 65F00 was the first 5th gen 3.0 which has the cardboard ends. when i bought my load of 9E000 they mention only the 4th gens for VQ application so maybe they have updated it. the 65F00 box listed only the 5th gen 3.0 for the VQ application.
