My car...

So here's the story...

This is my first car. I bought it for $6650 in April of this year. It's got 170,000 miles, and has aftermarket headlights, and a new shift **** from Nissan.

The first performance modification I'm going to do is put a new exhaust kit on. When the paint wears out, I'll probably repaint it black, but that's not on my priority list now.

Thanks everyone...the lights are from ebay.

The light output is marginal, but the design is great. The Brights work perfectly, it's just the dims are marginal...I like the look though...

I would like to get a new exhaust system...

What's a good one at not too much of a price that is not too big (obnoxious), but still sounds good...?

What part of the exhaust do ya want? Headers? Cat-back? Y-pipe? B-pipe? Ya need to figure that out first. Since ya have a 5th Gen, I'd assume y-pipe + cat-back would be good for now... ?

Different set-ups sound different to different people; what sounds un-obnoxious to someone else might sound obnoxious to you, so take a listen for yourself and find out what you like:

id say do a retrofit w/some MDX or other projectors, because the light autput on those with the projector that they come with isnt that great. check my cardomain if u wanna see how they look w/hids, and a retro.

not too bad. it took me and Roy about 7-8 hours, but we also put glass pieces in the corner/blinker area, and changed out the LED's in the angel eyes. here's the link to the write up. but it was definitely worth it:

I would say 3500 to 4500 to paint and like 400 to 500 to pay someone to mount the kit. Then however much the kit is....so.... $3900<

why get a new paint job, why didnt you just buy a black car if you like that color so much, the paint on it cant be that bad, the car is only 5 years old, id leave the paint alone and spend your money elsewhere, could have gotten a car with a ton less miles for 2-3 grand more

na...bodykit is just an idea...something that I'd probably not do, but always good to know the cost and specs...and come on...I'm 16, and I've only got so much to spend...

The black would be just so that I wouldn't have to go to Nissan and match the paint...I like the gray that I have...

I don't think this car was a bad deal at $6650 fully loaded, and in this good of shape...

2000 Maxima with high miles

Hi guys!

Iam a newbie in Nissan.

I have just sold my 2000 300m. And now going to buy 2000 Maxima GLE, gold with tan interior and 140K miles.
Does anybody know what should I expect with 140K miles car?
Could you give me some pieces of advice what to check before buying this vehicle? Iam really interested, cause it's GLE for only 6900$.

Thanks in advance.
YSK

well, mine's got 170k miles and it runs great now...with this kind of mileage, you can somewhat safely assume that most of it is highway miles, which are only a fraction of the stress on engines than city miles. : mine runs great...only thing that needed immediate repair in the drivetrain on my car was the spark plug wiring.

my mom's 2k has 205k on it now and it's an auto...i think your's will last long enough...it still runs great and now that we just had the motor mounts replaced you can hardly feel the transmission slip during the 1-2 shift (it used to bang the entire car..)

Other than the motor mounts, she's had the MAF and coils replaced once and that's it other than regular maintenance...i think you got a pretty good car for the money (especially since it's a 5-speed) and it looks like it was really taken care of...
