2000 GLE Charcoal Grey-Window Tint
2000 GLE Charcoal Grey-Window Tint
Any suggestions for window tint colors/% for my 2000 GLE charcoal grey with light grey leather interior? I like some of the metallics I've seen-I want something that looks classy, reflects the sun, but not too Elvis or mafioso.
Thanks, Lisa

Go presidential, I have fallen in love and to me it's worth the risk. However for you...going with a clean 15% all around or atleast in the back and 25% in the front changes the entire appearance of the car. Here is a pic mine after 5% all the way around and 50% on the windsheild. This is extreme, but a mild smoke or black would make your car look and feel completely different. And no more feeling like your in a fish bowl.

I'll probably do 50-60% on the windshield, 35% in the front and 5% in the rear

tinting windshield really help cut down the glare from oncoming traffic at night and like when you driving towards the sun. i had my windshield tinted on my other car and when i got the maxima it felt so bright when i drive so i had to get my windshield tinted again haha if you go 50% on windshield it won't be too noticeable.
plus it gives it a more of a complete look

She had no clue that I was sitting a mere 1-2 ft. from her face inside the car. I like the fact that noone can see my mug while I'm driving and the fact the my car cools down ridiculously fast in 100 degree weather. However if you are not set on getting the tint this dark, worrying about cops is not worth it in the long run. In all honesty I worry every time I drive by a cop. Trying to roll down the windows in time so they can't tell gets to be a PITA, but it's definetly worth it to me. You have to figure out how mild or wild(i don't know that you can get "wild" tint) you want to go.
on the windsheild helping with glare and sun... I LOVE IT!O, and stay away from the metallics
Love the tint-you said 20% all around. Is that enough to block out our NM sun which does horrible things to interiors, etc? Also, what color-is it mettalized?
Where do I find out if tinting is legal in the state of NM?
Thanks, Lisa

What are the drawbacks of tinting?
im from nj and the tint laws are pretty ridiculous here. ive had people tell me that its legal to tint the back windows as dark as you want, but then ive also have heard people get pulled over for it too. anyone from jersey think tints are worth it? im torn on whether or not to get them and take the risk.

hahaha i was saying this exact quote aloud right before i scrolled down and read this. I have 5% (see above) on the car and i can still see at night... a little.
I also don't have the sunroof touched so if I really am having trouble w/ visibility then I can open the sunshade and I get plenty of light even from the moon. Also this is awesome for illegal tint. you can just slide open the shade and...bam...you got instant 25% (or what looks like it) tint on the car.

I just put 20% metallized black tint on my '01 of the same color .. and i'm very pleased with the outcome, don't have pics just yet, soon to come.
i also suggest getting the 5%/15% on the sunroof if you have one..
and definately get the sunshade at the front tinted.. looks good even over factory blue-strip
