Flywheel recommendations anyone?

It is almost time to replace the clutch in my max. I was wondering how many of you have replaced the flywheel and which one you choose? Can you actually feel/notice a difference?

i'd say its worth it... ~1-1.5 hp are gained back per lb. of rotating mass removed and more flywheels are about 15-20 lb lighter so you do the math

DO NOT GO TO LIGHT. Launches will be harder but you will gain HP across the entire RPM band. Well worth it for around town screwing around. Gas mileage will decrease so be expected.

Huh?

why would it "be expected" for gas mileage to decrease? I would suspect an unnoticable increase due to less rotating mass.

how would your gas mileage be affected?? if anything wouldn't it be easier on your engine since it doesn't have to crank all that mass all the time? What does fidenza flywheel weigh?

Ugh. Fidanza for the 3.0 VQ is about 11lbs. Stock is about 19lbs. I've driven a VQ with a findanza and a ACT clutch. It was NOT hard to drive. In fact, it was pretty damned easy. My gas mileage actually went up a bit but I've read it might go down. Maybe if the unit was ULTRA light ie.. 5lbs or so. Which is way too light.

If one doesn't run or hasn't driven on these, one should not really comment.

haha.

i'd recommend the fidenza also. It might be harder for you to launch on the track because you will have less rotating mass to build up (if thats even an accurate description). The Unorthodox Racing one doesn't come with the starter ring gear, hence the 5 lb weight

I have a Fidanza on my car, 60K miles on it so far, I highly recomend it- its has shown 11WHP diff with no other modifications on the Dynojet. I do not drag race, so I wouldn't know if it lowers hour ETs or traps. Its really EZ to drive the car, and only diff is in terms of how fast the engine builds RPMs vs stock. I've installed Unorthodox flywheel on Stardust's car and with installing the starter ring gear and CKP ring gear the flywheel weights the same as a Fidanza.

what about engine breaking? Would a lighter flywheel decrease the amount of engine brake due to the lighter rotating mass or not?

From what I have heard, it will reduce ur engine brake... again, this is what I have heard... someone plse clarify this.. Tks
