I love this 4th Gen and I've always had this page bookmarked. This picture shows the color of his HIDs well and they look kind of green and blue I think and I have no idea which kit or kelvin rating produces this kind of light? Anybody?

it should be close to 8000k because if it was 6000 it would be more purple-white. Mine is 8K

it doesnt matter what color they are, theyre not 6000K or under... pretty much ricer lights.

also, how do you know theyre HIDs? there are halogens that create the same effect youre seeing.

I didn't say it mattered I just wanted an answer...and they're not ricer lights as you call them bc many BMW and Mercedes have HIDs that look very much like 7000k+ bc I see them all the time. Don't be jealous just bc his Maxima looks better than yours in that pic

yeah, it looks better than my 91...

there is NO oem HID headlight that is over 6000K, in fact most, if not all OEM bulbs are 4100K.

Yes, for the most part. However, there is a sunlight blue-white 6600K that is
the highest-rated Kelvin Color Temperature for factory HIDs that have been used in some vehicles. Even if it's not the same kelvin rating, some BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc. APPEAR to have the same high kelvin rating if they are not indeed that high on the kelvin chart which is all that really matters when the main concern is attention from police concerning color.

The reason the german cars appear to have a more "bluish" HID is not that the kelvin rating is higher, but that they use a certain type of projector that has different refractory qualities compared to the maxima reflector-based HIDs. That's why they look very blue from an angle or at the cutoff, but from straight-on they are about the same color as ours....

The bottom line is, those lights in that pic are definitely 8000k or above (can you say "ebay bulbs"?), and will be sure to get you a ticket or two from the local bored policeman.

oh, and they look mad IMHO, but that's just my opinion.

police? police worry about the color of the light that hits the ground and wether the lights glare into other drivers eyes at normal angles.

OEMs dont, eleventy billion Ks do.

its the color that hits the road.
