Well I'm just glad none of you ever speed or take a corner faster then the recomended speed limit. Speeding is bad! Don't do it. If your so afraid of taking risks you guys must not ever go outside.

Hopefully they will total it and my dad can get a 350Z.
There is a huge difference between speeding and going too far. In this case, things went too far. There is a time and place for everything. There is no way that car will be totaled looking at the photos you posted.

"this is done on a closed course by a professional driver. (ME)"

you are a professional driver?

pro·fes·sion·al
Engaging in a given activity as a source of livelihood or as a career
Performed by persons receiving pay

so how much do you get paid? and what car do you use? your slow stock 4th gen

Yea and I also said I was BSing you about the closed course. That statement wasn't true obviously, but you still can't seem to realize that.

This is OT, but seeing the pic of the buried odometer made me think of how much of an a$$hole you look like passing traffic. I got passed by an SL500 a couple years ago on a 2 lane expressway simiilar to the one pictured. I know I was speeding at 80 or so, but he passed me like I was standing still.
Anyone know the top speed of the previous gen SL500?

Ive seen this kid in town back when I was in HS, he must have been 17 at the time, and his parents are probobly some of the wealthiest people in buffalo, their house looks like an office building and they have atleast 5 $100k+ cars infront.

But my point was, one false move, on anyones part (particularly an unsuspecting startled motorist) will likely be your cause of death. Enjoy.

Yea we didn't notice the "left lane ends" sign or the fact that other drivers were on the road....thanks for pointing out that you weren't on a closed course or a professional driver.

My 4th gen is more of a rally car then then 5.5 gens. Its also much nicer. Lets see I have bose, leather, heated seats, heated mirrors, auto climate control, dual power seats. My dads SE has nothing. That f'ing radio of his sucks @ss.

thats the main problem. other drivers dont expect cars to be going that fast around them. they look in their rear view mirror and you are way back there. they change lanes and because you are going to fast you are already there and you hit them and kill them. is this their fault for changing lanes in front of you?? i think not.

Yep, passing people that fast is dangerous. I don't do it. I slowed down before I got to those people. I never pass anyone at a high rate of speed.

hmmm....so you are compairing a base model SE v your fully loaded SE....so how are you able to compair the two? I am shocked about how dumb you are, I can't comprehend how you think...I now know why teens are looked down upon. Because people like you who think that they get a nice car, and that no other car is better.

The fault would def lie with the reckless driver going 140 nomatter what.

I don't even remeber if I saw him in my rearview, but I think I noticed him coming up with alot of steam so I got to the right lane thinking maybe it was a police car or something, but then When it got a little closer I recognized it as an SL500 and remembered seeing this kid in one exactly like it before and was told of where he lived so it had to be him...plus no adult does that.

Back in the 4th gen days they accually included some extras with the SE. Did the 5.5 gen get those extras on there cars? Or did you have to pay big bucks for each one? Also the 4th gen out of the box still handles better then the 5.5's stock

so you have a loaded 4th gen and your dad bought a base model 5.5gen.....so?

my 5g SE has bose (well, it used to), leather, heated seats, heated mirrors, auto climate, dual power seats, auto-dim rearview...everything yours does and more.

oh, and it has an extra 30hp or so.....

bottom line: the 5g and 4g have essentially the same suspension setup, so "which one handles better" is a push. The 5G, however, has more power....hands down. The 3G maxima has the best suspension of the group, in truth (IRS).

It was late and dark and when we hit the water the back end swug around and did a 180. Then we were going backwards and just cliped the fire hydrent and got caught up on it. After the accident he tried to start it right away then stopped and we both got out the passengers side to look at the damage. Then I got in to see if it would start and I got it started then my dad got in the passengers side and we drove home (1/2 mile).
Before you said you were behind him in your car. Now you say you are in the car with him.

Dude..... your going to far!
First off all the 5th gens come with optional leather, bose, heated seats and mirrors and auto controls as well as dual power seats. Your dad was just cheap when he bought his max. Ohh and btw, if the 4th gen was better then the 5 gen, they would of continued the 4th gen instead of replacing it in 99.

In terms you might understand:
Dada made booboo, booboo is a gaagaa. Dada is a bad boy, good boys dont do booboos. Be a good boy. :P

Looks depend on the person. I honestly don't like the look of the 5 and up gen max's. Yea you have more power, You also get worse gas mileage. Like I have said before I know the 6-speeds are quick. I am glad you have a 6-speed, have fun. I was talking about the automatics that I am dead even with that are supposed to have 65 more HP and 40 more TQ.

i dont care what tranny is in it. your 5 speed WILL NOT make up for that much more power.

Yea probably not. That is why I am saying you don't really have that much power.

As I have said before Nissan rounded up on your cars...to what they thought they could get away with.

negative, ghost rider....the pattern is full.

according to EPA estimates:

1997 Maxima (5sp) : 22 mpg / 27 mpg
2000 Maxima (early 5g) (5sp) : 21 mpg / 27 mpg
2003 Maxima (late 5g) (5sp) 21 mpg / 28 mpg

so, have fun with that extra 1mpg city you get, and that extra 1mpg you LOSE on the highway vs 5.5gen

I also find this funny, in light of your arguments:

1997 Maxima SE: Road Holding Index: .79 g
2000 maxima SE: Road Holding Index: .85 g
2003 Maxima SE: Road Holding Index: .84 g

the 97 maxima had the worst road holding index of ANY maxima since the 1st gens

hmmm.....
