Another wrecked MAX (pics)

Well my dad and I were coming home in his 2002 SE on a fun curvy 4 lane road. It has a 35MPH speed limit and the curve we were going around has a recommended limit of 20MPH. Well in his car and mine (97 SE), we can both do 65MPH easily, which is what we were doing, around this corner. Well some person had the sprinkler on this night and it had all flowed on to the road and when we went around the corner the back wheels got loose and spun us around and smashed into a fire hydrant.

How much do you guys think this is going to cost to fix? I know both doors, roof, front windshield, I guess it is part of the frame that comes up between the doors, and the floorboard in the back is pushed up inside. Is it enough to total it?

so let me get this straight....you went around a 20mph turn at 65mph??? did you stay at the scene until the cops arrived at least so that you would be charged for the damaged fire hydrant? just to let you know, maximas definitely are not some of the best handling cars in the world, and i highly doubt they can handle a 20mph turn at anywhere near 65 EASILY....keep that in mind next time...as for the damages, it's going to be a pretty penny considering the roof is dented...the only way to find out is to take it to a body shop...

Well since they put this stuff on the road it really helps the tires stick. I frequently go 80 around this corner in my max. My dad can't take it quite as fast in his but 65 is normally no problem at all. Its just this is the first time there was water from the sprinkler there that you couldn't see and he couldn't keep it under control.

There was no damage at all to the fire hydrent. Didn't even scrape paint.

Both you and you're dad are idiots. Most parents discourage this type of driving but your F'ing dad drives along with you? You are lucky that no one else was on the road.

I have taken my car around 35mph curves going 75 about the same....and when I do that I can feel my back end starting to move out from under me. sucks about the car but going 65 around a 20mph curve? I mean common....

Sorry about the car...hope nothing is permantly wrong with the car....

give him a break... depends how tight the curve is....

I take curves at 65 that have limits of half that all the time. It all depends on your mods, and your tires. my tires are almost $300 with tax per tire... they stick like glue. I can take turns better then some sports cars. well, maybe NOT much better, but you get the idea.

Ive got toyo proxy 4's on all 4....and my back end still moves when I take turns to sharp....(like a 35mph curve at 75, up the canyons)

Yeah, my back end gets a bit happy sometimes too, but i know the limit of my car, I respect it, and I really dont mess around too much... tires cost way too much.

I went and took some pics on the curve. It is a 25MPH rated curve not a 20MPH, but the speed limit on the road is 35MPH.

First part of the turn

Here is a pic of the rest of the turn and the fire hydrent.

yeah i'm kinda confused too....either way, in that first pic, there is no reason or excuse that you should be going that fast around that turn...number one, if you ever got a ticket going that fast on that road you would be in deep crap...regardless of whether you're taking a turn or not...and number two, that turn is waaay to sharp to be taken so fast....grow some brain cells

Here is a pic of the 25MPH sign. It is missing the curve sign though.

Here is a pic of me doing almost 70 around the turn

The max spun around and that is why the damage is on the drivers side.

The sprinklers were from the median in the middle. I have never seen them on at that time of night.

Well you see the train yard in the back? That is at 44 and Jamieson and River Des Peres. Its right where the city ends and turns into the county.

Also that is where I got my street racing ticket that I was telling you about that was taken care of by my cop friend with a case of beer.

first ill start off by saying you and your dad are both morons....I know mistakes happen but my hell you just got in an accident last night and you decide to take that turn going 70 AND take a pic....

second you might have messed up your rims and tires because I see a curb before the fire hydrant. so you could have bent your control arms doing your stupid trick....plz never come to utah...

I didn't wreck, my dad did. My car handles much better then his.

Yea I was thinking that too. Although the curb we went up on is maybe 2 inches. We could have been fine if that fire hydrent wasn't there. While driving the car home, it drove fine.

Neither you or your dad should have a driver's licence. You are both a detriment to society and should be ruled off the road!

You won't be able to tell by driving if you bent/broke control arms....

you were going 65 mph....you would have gone through the fence and then hit something in there....

Im surprised that you didn't break the fire hydrant

I love how everyone acts like they never speed or push their car a little. I'm not in a Buick forum, I know lots of people with maximas push them.

What about all the people putting on performance shocks, springs, and tires? I'm sure that is just for show and to brag about.

65 around that curve is nothing. It was just that we hit a spot of water on a dry road.

give me a break....there's a difference between 'pushing your cars' and endangering other peoples lives....pushing your car does not mean going beyond the car's limits...i hope you crash your car too and learn a lesson...let's just hope you dont hurt or kill anyone in the process....and yes, 65 around that curve IS something...if someone were to be crossing the road right as you came around that curve they would be dead because you wouldn't have time to react...you are an idiot and should not have a liscense...grow up...

We wouldn't have gone throgh the fence we were going a lot slower then 65 by time we hit the fire hydrent. Plus we didn't hit it directly sideways. We were going almost completly backwards down the road.

So you spun your car.....then started going down the road backwards? Did you car stall? if you were going back wards? hows the transmission?

That Max looks bone stock. People with upgraded suspension and tires probably could have handled that turn even with the water. And most importantly not take a picture while turning at 70mph. You are a retard.

Please don't have any children. We don't need another generation of idiots.

How did you manage to take a turn @ 65 and spin into the curve, as opposed to out of the curve?

Yea it did a 180 then the car stalled. and we were gonig backwards and I thought we were going to be fine but then got caught up on the fire hydrent. It took a little bit to get into gear though after I put it in park to start it, but shifted like normal on the way home.

Because he couldn't get it to start again and didn't think about it being gear. So he got out and i got in the drivers seat and got into park then started it. I was not driving

EDIT: No mass I don't drive his car. mine is just as fast from a dead stop, is a 5-speed, handles better, and has a lot more accessories. I don't like the way the 5th feels and drives.
