Cattman Intake
Cattman Intake
guys i installed a cattman CAIGB-5 just last friday and now the car accelerates poorly when the gas is pushed harder than just a little little bit. My dad and i have determined that it is a fuel/air ratio problem. I left my battery disconnected for a whole day popped it back on hoping to reset the ECU and maybe get a new mixture but it didnt work. Yes the ECU was reset but i didnt get a new mixture. Either my car is getting too much air or not enough. Smae for the gas. I would like you guys who have installed the cattman CAI to step in and help me out here. I also have a bad cat and im not sure that it plays a huge roll but it could. I put on a new MAF and took it for a very short run and the bogging was still the same. Please guys, is there anything i need to know about my intake that i ahevnt done to make it work right on my car??Do i need reprogramming?? Whats going on?? please help.
Are you auto? If you are, you could be just loosing the lower end due to new intake... Happened to me when I did the GAB... If you put the stock back on does your low end come back?
i have a 5 spd manual. I believe everything is hooked up right. It ran fine as soon as i put it on. then in ran good the next day and then the following day it was shot. Maybe i have a leak. i know i have a line coming off the tranny that isnt hooked up and i believe its a vacuum line. Possibly my vacuum lines arent all hooked up correctly. Also the hole on the intake right before the MAF does not have that temp sonsor in it. Instead i taped it off. Also on the post coming off the intake after the MAF i have those taped off except for the bigger opening which i have a beather hose that is connected to the valve caver attatched. Does that sound alright or what shoudl i do.
Also before this i had a weapon R intake on there. And the car ran just fine. Took it off and replaced it with the cattamn CAI.

yours is 2k? why did u tape off the temp sensor. and on 2k there is 3 hoses that have to be connected to the intake. correct? at least thats how i remember it on my friends 2k with Cattman CAI.
I have a few vaccuum lines open and i cant figure out where the hell to put them. I need a diagram of someone who has the cattman and i need to see which lines go where and what not. The temp sensor i will put in but i need a lil rubber oring first which iom gonna buy today. But do you know anyone who i could pseak with or see a diagram of the hose positioning??
the temp sensor will effect your performance. and about the hoses. how any do u have that are not connected? i mean there are 3 that should be ..and they are all going to the intake. i dont think it really matters which place u connect them too on that long tube on the intake. giving that of course the right hoses ...lol
Yeah see i looked at pioneers pics under the sticky about how to install the place racing on the 2000 max and i cant see well enough to be able to tell. I need to see a close up of the vacuum lines and where they run to. I have one coming off the tranny that isnt hooked up, a small one and an open port. If anyone thinks they can help me out. I can prolly take a good close up with the digicam and email them the pics. I need this to be fixed haha.
ok ive figured out two of the hoses the connect to the intake. The main valve cover connects the largest opening on the intake, on the top i have the short vacuum line from right infront of the intake manifold but what goes on the bottom nipple of the intake. I cant find the hose.
ok guys update. i connected all the hoses perfectly. But one hose is still loose. the one coming off the top of the tranny right near the starter. where does that plug into?? also when i plugged up the vacuum lines just right the car doesnt make that SHHHHH noise anymore and the low end bog isnt AS bad but is till pretty crappy. I DO have a very bad cat. what else should i check?? i replaced my MAF and tried it out but it did nothing but then again my vacuum lines werent right either at that time.

1) You car will automatically adjust for A/F by itself. IT adapts.
2) I don't think it is possible to have "too much air".
3) It is NOT an Air/Fuel ration problem because the intake does do that much
4) MAke sure all connections are tight and proper. You do not need programming and in theory you probably didn't even need to reset the computer. In my experience resetting the computer only accelerates the learning process of the computer. In the end though the ECU will automatically adjust air/fuel accordingly.
How do you know you have a "Very bad cat"? IF you do replace it.
