serpentine belt

ok, I know I may have spelled that wrong but I need to get mine replaced. Is this easy to do or should I just have it done when I get my car inspected this month?

I checked that faqs but I could not find a thing on it.

I got mine replaced for ~$100 parts and labor. I'm sure it isn't that hard to do, and I'm sure many Orgers here could do it just fine. I know there are actually two belts on our cars (well, mines an 02, and I know mine has two at least), though, and the one further back into the engine bay is a PITA. Not something I wanted to deal with really, so I dropped the 100 bucks

It can be a pain if you don't have the right tools. It's def. doable but it will take some time if you are just using hand tools. I have an 02 Max and the inner belt is a pain to take off because of the location of the bolt to loosen the belt. Plan on using at least one universal joint and a breaker bar to free that bolt. I say if you have the time then do it yourself but if not then have a shop do it for you.

I just replaced both my my belts last week. The steering pump belt, the one in the rear of the engine is an absolute nightmare to replace - even using a universal joint on the socket wrench. I would definitely leave this one to someone else unless you feel like killing hours under your car struggling to fully loosen the tensioner bolt . . .

I just had both belts replaced when I had my UDP installed. I would just pay someone to do it. seems like a PIA.

Perfectly stated. I decided the 80-100 bucks saved wasn't worth the hassle, and I have a Kwiklift.
