CD changer cue skips
Two months ago, I upgraded from a 1998 Camry LE to a fully-loaded (sans navigation) 2K1 Infiniti I30t (titanium / graphite).
I have been lurking in the Maxima.org forums since then because I can't find any forums with anywhere near this level of traffic that focus on Infinitis. Besides, I had been considering the majestic blue 2K1 Maxima SE-AE prior to going for the I30t. (The Infiniti dealers were more willing to bargain with me than the Nissan dealers.)
My question pertains to the stock trunk CD changer, which only after acquiring the car, I was saddened to determine was a Clarion unit.
As you know, when pressing the cue or review buttons, there are about three speed levels, with speed increasing the longer the button is depressed. The problem is that when using cue or review on CDs that are in the CD changer, the fastest speed causes the CD "play head" to skip randomly about, jumping forward and back. This basically renders the high-speed cue/review useless as it will 50% of the time result in a movement in the reverse(!) direction. (That is, holding down cue to move forward in a song will half of the time result in going backward in the song, perhaps even back a track!) The problem is not related to any specific CDs. Also, the problem does not exist when using the in-dash single CD player.
Does anyone else have experience with this on their Maxima/I30 stock CD changers? Is it a known issue? I plan on having the dealership look into it when I take the car in next, but I'd rather not make a trip down there just for this.
Thanks for any input!

well, no...
I have 2 of those OEM CV737's. Not sure what's that wrong with Clarion, they've both been rock solid. The second is in our pathfinder. My only problem has been condensation on cold wet days in the PF.
The only time I have seen behavior like that was with 80 min CDR media. (burning less then 74 mins on an 80 does not help). However, all 74 min disks seem to work fine. I've never had trouble with any pressed Silver CDs. Both units act exactly as you describe when using 80min CDR, but thats it.
may just be your unit. ask for a new one.
