Helios HID in 2K1's -Anybody got em'?

Hey I was interested in the Helios HID kits, but the 2K1 non-HID housing uses a 9003 bulb. Has anyone put this kit in? Was there any issues with overheating the assembly?

Thanks.

2000-01 use an H4 bulb. And if you knew anything about HID, you'd know they run COOL.

That is why I asked, as I do not know that much about HID's. I am trying to educate myself, with the help of someone who has done it already. Besides, I thought I remember someone frying their lens housing with HID's in a non-2K2 application.

I just put mine in tonight ...Helios Hi/Lo 6000k...I'm very happy with them...the output is great and the glare must not be that bad...dont get me wrong they're super bright, but I drove for a long time tonight and must have passed at least 50 cars including 2 local policeman and 3 state troopers at all different grades of road and I didn't get flashed or pulled over at all so I guess I won't even bother aiming them. They seem to be sticking on the road and not really up higher at all if anything i might even consider raising it a bit...I put them next to my dads stock HIDs in his 2003 BMW and of course his line of output on the garage door is perfectly straight and mine is pretty darn good so i woudlnt' worry about the glare in 00-01 stock housing...anyways the only negative thing so far is that my headlights are PERFECTLY WHITE and it lights up the road perfect white with no hint of blue or purple which i guess is a good thing...there is no purple or blue color at all and i thought 6000k definitely had some color to it...is there some kind of color shift that occurs as you use them for more hours?

Well it definitely changed today haha if that's possible... I turn it on and its a real blue color for about 30 seconds then it starts to turn purplish/blue/white then after about 2 minutes its a bright white with a little hint of purple and it lights up the road straight white...very happy with it...i def won't mind it turnin a little more purple/blue down the road..i'll post pics when i get a chance but they are SO much better than halogen

Yep, all HIDs shine blue when first turned on, if you actually look at the light output at night, the light will actually get brighter after a few seconds.

What Websites are you getting your bulbs from? Are you guys also changing the housing, I get regular H4 HID looking bulbs but I want something brighter.

Do the conversion kits come with the lenses?

How much is the price range. Im looking for around 5000k.

Thanks

the kits are H4 HID kits that are pretty much plug and play with the stock housing. I ordered the Helios 5000K HID kit. You can check out custommaxima for more detail on the kits. There is a group buy by maximabest that are also selling the kits.

most cops shouldn't care unless you got mad glare which shouldn't be a problem if you just turn the big screw to the right which lowers them..and na u dont have to get new housings

Do the Helios kits plug directly into the stock wiring harness or do you need to splice wires?

cops have never given me any problems about my hids, just my sidemarkers, and i know im brighter then most cars on the street with 8000k heads and fogs, and with the reflectors removed from the fogs. and yes i know 8000ks put out less than other k's but theyre still bright
