Ok, I have had my Max for about 2 months now and I have noticed this happen twice. Whenever I am going around a curve or something and hit a bump in the road, regardless of how big it is, I feel like the whole backend of the car gets airborn and falls back onto the road in a different spot. (Hope that makes sense). It almost makes me feel like I will loose control. Is this normal? I haven't made mods and that isn't likely since I plan on hopefully trading in for a 2003 (I only keep cars for 2 years). Is this something dealing with the suspension stuff I keep reading about in different posts?

It may have to do with single beam suspension in the rear. The rear is not as forgiving as the front when going over bumps. I experience what you describe often, but now I have a RSB and springs, so I don't worry about it.

Yeah, it's the beam rear axle. Drive a Grand Am, it'll do the same thing.

It's really noticable on high speed sweepers, with large expansion joints.

Darned if I know how to fix it without putting in an IRS, and I don't think you can get one for the max

I've never played with strut tower braces, though. Would a RSTB help? (Do they even make one?) It'd keep the rear end more in line, yes?

For clarification, the RSB and springs makes it more stiff in the rear, so I am expecting it to not be as forgiving back there.

If you have an SE, the rear springs are stiffer, so the ride back there will be more harsh than a GXE or a GLE model.
