HELP!! A/C Related

need a further readout of test results... have auto climate control test performed, on test 2 result was -24 and 25, then on test 51 ambient temp and cabin temp read fine, but with the engine hot or cold the 3rd temp readout was 131 deg F

these are results after 3 tests, 2 cold starts and one warm.... all with the exact same outcome...

can't find out what they mean, but i imagine i need a new water temp sensor, my hot air is affected.

-24 is the intake sensor, and 25 is the sunload sensor. if you did the test inside or at night, youll throw a 25 every time. Svc manual suggest shining 60W or brighter light in the sunload sensor to ck it.

i can email you a picture with the general location of the sensor, PM your addy to me.

the original problem w/ the a/c is the heat turns on ONLY at 85 degrees, but it sends it to the floor as though it were heat at 73-77 but it's cold.

I did run 2 tests in the day and only hit a -24, and if the third temp read-out (in test 51) is the intake sensor, it's faulked cause every test...(6 total, sun twice) cause it's read 131 degs everytime!

id bet thats your problem, the sensor is reading that high temp, and adjusting the blend door for cooler air.

disconnect the sensor and check the reading again.

I have a 2000 GLE with what sounds like the exact same problem. I thought my wife was crazy complaining about 'frozen feet' and having to turn the temp to 85 just to get it to blow warm air. Then I took it for a spin and sure enough, 84 was blowing cold air on my feet and 85 degrees would blow warm. When she first mentioned it I was freaking out thinking it was going to be the heater core. After my quick check I assumed it was whatever sensor measures the air temp inside the car.

Anyway, can you send me whatever info you have on this problem or the fix? Pics, pdfs, p/n of sensor... ecr72@sbcglobal.net

I've been searching on this topic and can not find much so far.

you both have mail. ecr, try runnning the diagnostic process as referenced earlier int eh thread. you can more easily locate the problem, as it could be a few other things, including a cabin temp sensor.

EDIT: sorry different thread has the refernce, ill find it for you
