SES Light Codes P0455 & P1448
My SES light came on. I had Autozone pull the codes:
P0455 EVAP Control Gross Leak
P1448 EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Open.
Anyone have any suggestions? I always tighten my gas cap until I hear it click.

Funny you should ask, the same codes came on in my 02 last week. Went to the dealer today, and with parts and labor its around a $600 repair. I'm gonna try to save some money by buying the parts from Dave. B. Good luck...

I have P1448 and P0447.....I always tighten my cap till it clicks as well. Sometimes when I fill up the light goes away completely but it comes back on before 1/2 tank.
Driveability seems to be fine...would it hurt the car to drive around like this for a few miles? Also, what exactly is the parts list for this repair?

youll probably end up finding a failed vent valve. should be easy to replace.

I'm just going to drive with my CE light on for awhile longer. I wonder if you can clear these codes with any run of the mill code scanner?

Hey guys going use this thread, I have 1999 nissan maxima 4th gen but I am sure its similar to 5th gen. So anyways, I went to shop for inspection and emission but emission failed due p1448 and p0440. And read FSM and said I should do p1448 first before anything.
Before I take canister out, do I need take fuse out of fuel pump to relieve the pressure?
Gas cap is passed.
Also the guy said If i need to replace the vent solenoid, I have to buy the whole canister. Is that true?

You probably have a bad EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve. It is rather common with the age of the car because of its location.
And NO, you do not have to buy the EVAP canister. They are sold separately, so you only buy what you want or need.
