Tensioner pulley problem

I was going to change the belts on my 2000 and I came across a rather big problem. I loosened the tensioner pulley bolt and then went to loosen the belt itself and the bolt to do that is broken. The previous owner must of tried to change the belts himself and broke the bolt and then just gave up. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? I am not sure what is involved in a project like this, but I do not have the money to take it to a shop. I am very handy with tools but I am not familiar with the VQ motor. If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Is it the bolt that you tighten after you adjust the tension which "locks" the pulley in place? I have a 2003 and was under my car readjusting my belts after I installed my new UDP. Were the belts making noise?

It is the bolt that goes behind the tensioner pulley itself. It has a longer nut, about 2-3" long, and one side of the nut has a "shelf" on it that butts up against a metal plate. I will try and get a picture taken tonight of it, because my descriptions just seem strange.

Edit: It is only threaded on the top portion, about 3-4" down and then it is a metal rod that goes behind the pulley, hopefully this helps a little.

If that bolt is broken you will have to get a new tensioner. Don't believe they sell it in parts I bought one a couple of years ago.

So is that one whole piece then? I am concerned that it is going to be in like 5 parts and I will have to take that side of the motor apart. I have read how it is pretty easy to get the tensioner pulley off of the car, just need to pry it off with a screw driver. If this is wrong please let me know so that I do not screw anything up. I just want it fixed, I have been so frustrated with this car I am ready to sell it. The 2000 has more problems with it then any of my other cars combined and I own a Camaro with a boat load of modifications.

Its not really one piece but I don't believe you can buy pieces.

Here is what it looks like removed. One is from a 2k2 and the other a 95, same thing. 3 bolts hold it on if you can get them off without wrecking your hands.

If that bolt that you adjust with is broken there is no way to make the belts tight. As Jime says it's probably sold as one piece. Try a junk yard if the stealer wants too much for it. The unit is easiest to get at from under the car if you haven't already found that out. Good luck
