Spoiler loose - argh

My 2000 GLE has a loose spoiler, again.

First the right side bolt was missing, so I had it screwed in at a bodyshop (was at an angle, couldn't reach it myself).

Now, the left side is loose, but the problem now is that there is nothing to screw onto! The friggin nut/stud/whatever fell into the trunk cover assembly.

This happened within a 1 week period - any known issues/recalls I should be aware of?

Also, any possible DIY fixes are welcome, because I get the feeling the dealership will just molest on this one.

No known TSB or recalls for this one, but you may want to think of removing the entire spoiler yourself. Not only is it held on by bolts, but double-sided tape so it can be a bear to remove. But with that it should give you access to rethread the stud.

Maybe someone else has a better idea.

If you aren't that mechanically inclined then I'd just take it to a a body shop to have them do it. They would be cheaper than a dealer.

Looking at mine, I would take the other stud to a hardware store and replace it with the same tread depth and do it that way but i would also use Loc-Tite to secure it down... You should be able to find something that will fit without any problems.
