To ex-Berk/Frankencar intake owners - how does the GAB sound compare?
Lately I've been getting anoyed at my intake rattling even after numerous adjustments to filter position with and without the support bracket. Also I miss the low end punch my car once had and once easy passing on the highway now feels sluggish. But I love the sound the engine makes right now, especially after 4,000rpm. So for the GAB people, how does the sound compare?

Just do a PAB and lose the filter... once you introduce a cone filter, it's not considered ghetto anymore, and the price outweighs the gains.....since the GAB is virtually free, and so is the PAB.

I am thinking about doing the GAB to my 2k2, but I dont want to loose any low end torque and I know their MAF are very sensitive.
Since the winter is getting here though, I would probably gain low end torque because of the cold air

I see that your interested in low end tq...the stock airbox will do just that....it's all compromise IMO...aftermarket intakes lose some low-end but gives you great sound...stock airbox sounds pretty conservative (even with a GAB) but gives you great low end...if you REALLY want to keep the aggressive roar of an aftermarket intake, but want to regain your low/mid range, then try to find another mod to help you gain back your low/mid punch...maybe headers

I thought I didn't lose low end either...but here is a perfect example..
I bought my car in July of 04...it was nearly 90 degrees everyday for the whole month...my car was bone stock....throughout the whole summer and whole winter...my car felt great...then when I got my intake in February, I "thought" I didn't feel a low end loss....but it turns out I did, becuz this past summer (2005) I noticed my car had a hard time coming off the line in the 90 degree heat...especially with the a/c on...sometimes it was so bad that I ended up stalling the engine....I NEVER had this problem during the summer of 04 when I was bone stock...
I'm assuming...when I FIRST got the intake, I didn't feel a low end loss becuz I was keeping the revs real high just to hear the sound of it...after I got bored of the sound, I changed to normal driving and there definitely is a loss down low...from idle to about 2,000 RPMs...it feels more sluggish with the intake+exhaust...
also, a local member of mine (dragdmax) has a 6spd with the GAB/17 degree mod....his car definitely feels preppier than mine from idle to about 2000...I've driven his car inside & out many times too...

I recently installed a Frankencar w/ Apexi filter. So far I haven't noticed any loss of low end torque (I reset the ECU when I installed the intake), if anything I notice more torque above 1000-1200 rpm. Maybe cause mine is a 6 speed the launch is different tan an auto?
