o2 sensor & o2 simulator problem
o2 sensor & o2 simulator problem
Alright, lately I've been getting...
P0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0158 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
I said, no problem...I'll just clear it becuz I use to get these codes once in awhile (before my simulator)....well within the next few miles...it keeps popping back up...I'm like
so I check under the hood and look at my simulator...the LED is blinking and the wiring seems fine...where should I start? I know something is wrong cuz it comes back within the next few miles....before my simulator, the code only popped up once in awhile and it was just a ghost code...thanks!

you'll need to check if your simulator is still putting out the required 0.6V
take a multimeter, red to the white wire and black to a ground
those two codes mean that the minimum high voltage that the ECU is reading from the 02's are not being reached

make sure none of the connections to the simulator have corroded(sp?)
I covered mine in heatshrink, then COVERED it in electrical tape to make sure nothing gets to them. I really hope nothing goes bad on mine... It will be a b***h to replace it.

They post cat have 4 wires and are the ones that need to be simulated. The ones that are still in the headers are the 3 wire ones.

O2 sensors YEESSS !!!!!!!! P0171 and P0170 codes
I wish I could help you with the O2 sensor simulator problem, but I'm not that great tech. But I think you could help with my problem. Service engine soon light is on. At Advance Auto Parts codes P0170 and _P0171 showed up. They told me O2 sensor I bought four of them ( cost $375 ) guest what!!!!!!!!!, the service engine soon light still on and my car is doing freaking stuff like, doesn't want to go over 4500 rpm, every morning starts like an old chevy car and turns off by itself, sometimes while I'm driving seems like I'm going 100 mph and the car is actually going 55-60 mph. This #*#@&^%#@ is driving me crazy. It is not funny driving on the 408 East-West and see every body pass by when I have at least 225 hp under my hood. Please help.

what I ended up doing was hooking up the o2 sim out of the car to a 9V battery and then monitoring with a multimeter to see what the white signal wire output voltage was. They sent me a replacement soon afterwards

Steven, Probly not related to the light but I think you have the wrong O2's simulated. When simulating the O2's with 4 wires you need a resistor for the heated O2 wire or you will always throw codes I think po135 and po145.

Why do you keep insisting I have the wrong o2's simulated? Do you not understand what downstream/secondary means? Also why do you keep insisting a resistor? Everybody I know who runs a simulator has no resistor....besides these codes have nothing to do with heater circuit malfunction...maybe if my car threw codes like these, then my heater element would be bad
P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
etc etc....

The following codes mean that the high voltage the ECU is looking for in the secondary o2 sensor circuit (between 0.6V-1.0V) is not being reached.
P0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0158 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
Thats funny because the same thing just happend to me on thanksgiving. I started a thread about it. The SES light actually went off on my way home from work today, but I assume I will be seeing it again soon. I'll have to check the voltage when I get a chance.
Thanks,
James
P.S. 00SEMAX19 needs to just stop.

Whow Sorry! Not insisting anything! I know your codes have nothing to do with the heated wire did you read where I said PROBLY NOT RELATED TO YOUR CODES. You said you didn't have a resistor so I thought you may have simulated the O2's that on ly have 3 wires going to them. MY BAD!
ALLGO said that the ones needing to be simulated were the ones with 4 wires.
I'm just trying to make sure I did my **** right.
Did you (steven) leave the heated wire hooked up and leave the O2's in the engine bay?
Hope ya get it figured out, but don't get mad because I'm putting in my .02...Isn't this how we learn.
And stop what jimmycap

resistors or wrong o2's being simulated...I have been SES free for the 6 months i've had my headers & simulator...until recently when these codes started popping up

Your two cents are fine, but stop arguing with the man about a problem he doesn't have, it's counterproductive.
Thanks,
James
Man, with all these problems, are headers worth all the aggravation? I still want them as well, but reading things like this makes me thank again and again. Is it worth it?

. The ECU is wondering if the sensor is sending good numbers via the simulator before the element is heated up, then something should be wrong, I guess one can fool the ECU to a certain level only.Last try is to disconnect the heater wire and connect the other B1 working sensor's heater to the ECU. Don't know if it will work, but then worth the try.
Edit : FYI, I have P0135 on always...

alright heres a quick update....
No more codes...I have been SES free for about 1 week now....what I did was borrow my friend's OBDII scan tool and monitered the codes closely...everytime they kept popping up, I just deleted it....I started to notice the codes popped up alot less...like usually they come back around 5 minutes or less....then I started to notice it came back 1hr later, then 1 day later...then I'm SES free as of now....I'm going to guess my o2 simulator is just PMSing me...for those of you who are in the same position as me, give this a try

You will eventually get the heater circuit failure code for the sensor that is hooked with the O2 simulator....
Your joy may essentially be short lived.

If you don't cut the pink heater circuit wire, why would it throw a code?
Read around on www.o2simulator.com and you'll see that hooking up a o2 sim properly will not throw the heater circuit code
