Are you kidding? A plow's contact path is a bit larger than the one of tires. Sure you can tow a trailer with a Maxima. I towed a trailer on a regular basis with my '00 and once hauled close to 2000lb worth of stone for my driveway. There were no problems of any kind.

For what it's worth, I towed a motorcycle trailer with two sportbikes and full gear with my 97 5 speed SE. I put 82K miles in 2 years on the car racing up and down the east coast on weekends. I also towed the same trailer in the mountains of western north carolina a few times a year. The only problems I had were an O2 sensor a couple of times. I was able to cruise over 80 all day w/o problems.

My best friend has a 95 auto SE w/ 110K. He pulls a bike trailer with it at least once a week, no problems.

Another friend of mine has an '03 auto SE that pulls 2 bikes and 4 people up to the mountains and back with no problems, but he only has about 50K on the car.

I am sure it is hard on the car, but they seem to be able to handle it.

I pull a racing sailboat with my 2000SE. Total is 1000lbs. No problems at all. There is a hiden hitch for the Maxima. Can't even tell it's there when not in use. Lighten up about the truck jokes. Some people tow things. Why not enjoy it driving your Maxima.

I've been looking at hitches for my '00 max to tow my bike also. Only 1200lbs at the most total.

What type of trailer are you looking to use, and what do you plan on towing?

I have a "snowbear" trailer which is a nice size for towing my dirt bikes. I have a tranny cooler installed for the additional weight. The manual says yu can tow but only up to 1000lbs. The only thing that it did was use up my rear pads a little quicker, no big deal, I'll just keep an eye on them from now on. I get a lot of second looks towing these down the road behind a maxima....

Happy towing
