2K2 Bose Stereo Ghosts? Volume Resets to 0
So I had something strange happen to me the other day on my 450km (275 mile) road trip. I was listening to the radio on my 2K2 Bose and the volume just up and reset itself to zero. At first I thought I was imagining things but then it did it again later. And once more before my trip was done.
Stereo doesn't lose power or flicker or anything, the volume just suddenly goes from whatever it's at to zero out of the blue.
By the way, its the stock 2K2 bose 6-CD and I have never modified it in any way.
In my 2+ years of reading threads regularly on the org, I don't believe I have ever come across this happening to anyone else.
Any input? I was going to post this in the audio section but I figured it might be better off in the 5th gen, at least at first.

Could it be a weird malfunction of the speed sensitive volume feature? All I know is that the stock Bose system gives people such headaches that many of us (including myself) have simply replaced either the head unit (using adapters) or the entire system including the stock speakers and amp.

Spiro / Sorrow, thanks for the input. It might be possible that I was leaning on the volume down button and that caused it to go to zero.
What is probably more likely is that the volume down button might be sticking and causing it to reset to zero. I did not know that holding it reset the volume so that is useful information and I will investigate.
Polak, I appreciate the "helpful"
response. FYI the speed control volume was off (I never have it on because it is annoying as hell) and if you read my post more closely you will see that I mention the volume resets to ZERO. Speed control volume changes the volume you hear, but the number volume setting on the display does not change.

Well, I checked it out in my car today and if you hold the decrease volume button down, it counts quickly down to zero but it doesn't "jump" to zero like I witnessed earlier.
So that is definitely not what I accidentally did. I am back to the ghosts theory again.

I had that happen to me on my non bose system in my 02. I was sitting at a light listening to the radio and all of a sudden the volume turns itself down all by itself. Strange, but i just turned it back up and it never happened again....Very wierd!!!
