Blower motor noise

I have the whrrring noise on my blower motor. I tried to do a search to see if anyone has a fix for this or if it just needs to be replaced. I saw where others have had trouble but I didn't find any solutions.

How have you fixed this problem and how hard is it to do?

Thanks in advance,
Gears

Open the area behind the glove box and cabin filter and see if there is something inside the blower (leaves, whatever) that could be making the noise... If it is the bearings that is making the noise then you will just need to get a new one... They run around $100 for new and $20-30 for used...

I've noticed the same with mine, sounds like maybe something got dropped into a vent.. or possible a mouse got in there and left some nuts or something.. though it seems to be worse on really cold days.

G&C,

If it's the noise that I am thinking of.. I believe there is a TSB regarding the blower motor noise. It's due to the motor cover, there's a new one you can get to replace it to subdue the noise. Check around..

good luck

Take it apart and clean it out.
I do this once a year at least....gets alot of small leaves and pinestraw (in the south) caught in there.
CHange your in-cabin microfilter if you haven't done it yet.
Damn stealer put in a cheap one when I bought the car new....didn't know until I got in there to change it. *****es.

I just had the same problem on my 2000, I pulled the motor out and cleaned it all off, and plugged just the motor back in to listen, and it made the same noise... bearings were shot, so I just ordered a used one for $40 shipped.
