Cleaned the throttle body, now the cars runs like kaka
I took off the MAF sensor, pipes and that plastic baffle thing, sprayed with throttle body cleaner, everything.
I wiped the butterfly off.
This am the car fantastic, better than before, no hesitation, nothing.
But it slowly got worse, the CEL came on, code 507 (Idle motor or vacuum leak, or dirty TB)
Now it idles high, surges, jerks under re-accelaration. and the mpg has gone down to around 18 around town.
PLEASE HELP.
I recleaned everything, I put some light silicone on the butterfly, I can't find a vacuum leak anywhere.
Did I screw something up.
It is so strange that the car ran beautifully, then crap.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. The car is my job, I need to get it running right.

You most likely either 1) bent the throttle plate shaft or 2) screwed up the electronic throttle motor.
Cleaning TBs is NOT recommended for 2k2+ Maximas for precisely this reason.
Only other real possibility is that your IACV is stuck open.

I have cleaned mine a few times and no problems what so ever. The 02-03 drive by wires seem to have a big problem with cleaning the TB.

I have 2002 max and I also have cleaned my tb and I had the same symptons as you describe. I fix mine by applying a small amount of high temp silicone between the intake manifold and throttle body which is used for engine gaskets that solved my problem. I had a vaccum leak and rpms were between 900-1200 will check engine light on. After sealing it high temp silicone and doing the pedal, idle learning procedure the idle is within spec 625-750rpm and runs like new for 9 months.

more than likely, you are going to need a relearn. this happens often at my dealership. this is the main reason we dont clean the throttle bodys by wiping them but run a can of TB cleaner through.those throttle by wires are sensitive

Turns out I had to change the TB with the throttle motor unit.
Fortunately the extended warrenty covered the $770 bill, it's no wonder I do all my own work.
BTW, this is the first time I have ever taken a car to a dealer, it scared the living daylights out of me. I felt that they were waiting to pounce at any time.
I felt that they had a wallet magnet on the door frame as I walked in and that no matter what, I was going to be relieved of tons of cash.
It must be awful for a young girl, or a meek person who just accepts whatever.
As it was, they treated me well and did a nice job.
