I just took the normal dock, took the measurements for the slot in the center for the ipod, and cut that same sized slot in my cupholder. That way, if I'm not using it, I can just put the cup holder fill in piece back in place and hold my drinks, and when I am using it, it leavs nothing exposed.

I'll get pics whenever my car gets out of the shop next week.

I was able to find an adjustable cell phone holder that mounts on the center vent to use mine. I found it at a Verizon Wireless center.

For hooking the iPod all you need is a set of cables with an AV end (i.e. Red and white ends) and the other end is an audio plug.

I got a set of Monster Cables made specifically for hooking an iPod to a home stereo with Auxillary inputs, so unless that Navi unit has auxilary inputs, don't waste your time.

check out my cardomain for pics

Is it the video iPod? I bought a cable from Apple that sends video and audio through rca cables. I play videos off my iPod on my 7" screen.

These are 2 other options but I don't know how easy the first one is.

You can buy a RCA cable that turns into a single headphone jack or a RCA cable with the dock connector cable on the other end.

I have a digital interface for my Alpine which allows me to play AND control the ipod through the headunit. I drilled a hole near the bottom of the center console compartment and ran the cable through (the side which hooks into the interface box is smaller/square-ish so it fit through).
I store my ipod mini in the center console compartment, hidden from view.

Here is a thread that has a nice install that uses a dock installed in the ashtray compartment.

I plan to do this real soon.

If you want to be able to control your ipod through your Pioneer deck you will need this interface adapter cable.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3pBfJMD...p?i=130CDIB100
It is pretty expensive and I've read mixed reviews on it from people who have used it. People have said that it can be difficult to get used to using the controls on the Pioneer deck and that navigating through the ipod library is not very fast or user friendly. But others have said it works well (You can read the reviews on the crutchfield website). This interface adapter cable also charges the ipod and sends the audio signal to your deck. I believe you could also hook this interface adapter cable to a ipod dock also. I've thought about using the interface adapter cable but would like to actually try it out first before spending $100 on it.

If you don't want to use the interface adapter cable I think you can just use a cable like this (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3pBfJMD...00&I=119MCON2M) since I believe you have audio inputs on the back of your Pioneer deck. (I have to use an adapter on my Pionner deck that turns the CD changer port into a RCA audio input, but yours should already be set up with RCA inputs) You would just plug the cable right into the headphone or line out jack on your ipod and plug the RCA plugs into the back of your pioneer deck.

I'm going to mount a ipod dock in my ashtray and hook this charger cable up to the dock (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3pBfJMD...50&I=119AICHG2 )
The charging cable also has a audio output that branches off of it and I'm going to run a audio cable from that to the back of my deck, so I can also charge my ipod and have all the wires hidden. (I will run the power cord behind my dash and splice in an extra cigarette lighter receptacle behind the dash to plug it into)

I definitely wouldn't recommend using a FM modulator, I don't think the sound quality is that good.

Also I don't necessarily recommend buying this stuff from crutchfield. I just used their web site to show the items. Usually you can find stuff cheaper elsewhere. (http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOCDIB100 seems to be a little cheaper and you may be able to find it even cheaper some where else)

I'm getting my D1 installed this weekend but not getting that IPOD adapter because it got horrible reviews. I'll just probably install the IPOD through the RCA inputs.
