Accelerator cable and throttle drum spring loose

I am experiencing jerks during downshifts inspite of cleaning the throttle body. On further look at the accelerator cable, I noticed that the cable connected to the throttle drum is loose, which probably needs adjustment.

But what suprised me was the spring connected to the throttle drum is shaking and not firm. The cruise control cable's spring seems to be real firm (I don't use cruise mode offen, which explains the spring being firm).

Do I need to replace the spring connected to the throttle drum? Will it reduce the downshift jerks...

what are are describing is perfectly normal and is like that in every car, if u have a freind or neigbor with a maxima pop thier hood and u will see. also, i think is u press the gas pedal u will see that it goes doun like a 1/4 w/o resisiatnce i think that is the normal slack in the pedal (not sure) but the cable issue im sure about, someone correct me if im wrong. as for your jerking when downshifting, if its hard driving its perfectly normal, if u get the jerking all the time it may be a tranny issue.

I am pretty sure it isn't a tranny issue becoz the downshift jerks are very tempramental and very hard to reproduce. I guess the car has a mood/mind and on bad day's does these wierd things..

BTW, 1->2 jerks have been happening for a long time and I am told these JATCO trannys are prone to shift shocks, checked with my buddies max, same thing, inspite of flushes, fluids etc.....
