I am replacing my water pump..advice?
I am replacing my water pump due to the over heating problem I have incurred. Since I need to access the timing chain area I plan on replacing the timing chain tensioner as well. I was hoping this may resolve the rattling noise I have due to the excessive oil loss on a few of our vehicles. Does anybody have suggestions on other parts I should replace in this area while I have it open? I'd appreciate the ideas you all may have and why it may be logical to replace it. Thanks.
I hate that my car is taking a **** on me. I only have 81,000 miles.

Directly from ALLDATA- I'll keep this up for about a week or two - Until you're done.
Water Pump labor
Warranty timee 2.9 Hours
Out of warranty 3.8 Hours
If you've never done a timing chain driven pump you should double warranty time and that's a rough estimate on how long it will take, IMO. (depending on tools availiable and general knowledge and comprehension.
--Just got done doing both drive belts.. Book time was an hour.. Took me 1.5 hours..PITA btw
EDIT: after reading your old post I didn't see a response about bleeding the system...You have verified it was the pump right? Just asking

Good luck with that, since you have to have the engine pulled to get to the pump, it's tedious task and if that's what you're going to do on your own. Otherwise I would leave it to the dealer since if they fix it wrong, that you can always hold them accountable for it. Let us know how it went.

Don't worry I have All Data, tools, a lift, every thing needed. I plan on bleeding the system first when i obtain my tool I ordered from Matco in a few days. If that works then I obviously won't change the pump , but I strongly believe that's what the problem is. I'll let you guys know how it goes next week. Has this happened to anyones 5.5gen? Any comments, concerns or suggestions? Thanks guys.

I'm almost done with it guys. I got the water pump on and the new timing chain tensioner. I just got to put most of it back together now. Those idiots at Nissan made it extremely difficult to get that timing chain tension out, it's a pathetic design. I'll be finishing it up today and let you know how it goes.
